At the end of the day this is a humberside happenings page and we are bound to be excited about even the smallest of announcements, if good news, should be shouted about! The same goes for DSA on their own thread!
Having said that 7006 is excellently contraversil and his posts, and the replies he gets, keeps this thread a five star rated thread at the top of the pile contantly!
This is bound to get the people looking!

I may be being naive here but, this thread is a HUY supporters thread. supporters threads usually slag off/put down the opposition. If the opposition walk into the lion's den well....
To suggest that the HUY thread news-manages any anti/put down of DSA is a bit 1984. also what is this web site called
Professional Pilots RUMOUR Network.
Or should we all be Stepford Wives. Come on!
This latest spat evolved out of NikNak and lakeside 84's statements. The thread was going very nicely thank you very much before that. Mike was making positive comments as were A-H and Andy, DC10 Fan added some extra as well, then it all went balistic because someone made the comment:
"HUY...waste of space airport"
So DSA supporters can say what they like on a HUY supporters thread, but HUY supporters cannot respond or defend or retaliate.
Sounds infinitely sensible to me (not)
Then again that is the DSA way is it not
Bury bad news, and if it does get out, deny it.

I think you guys are losing the plot here and taking it way out of context.
How right you are...let's call it HUYspeak, add a footnote maybe.......'contributors must only say positive things about HUY, otherwise bog off to other boards'
I have had my spats with 7006fan on this board, he's given it back, and I'd like to think we were big enough to have a pint together.
Airhumberside makes a good contribution to this site and his views are respected. I am sure he will be the first to agree that it has its fair share of knockers on the board, just like this one. In fact I will go a stage further and suggest it's probably worse on the DSA forum due to some people masquerading as DSA supporters only to stick the boot in. In my book they are the worse kind. At least people on this board remain clear as to where their loyalties lie.
AndyHUY I think you are trying to move away the essence from this board, which makes it so entertaining. It’s always going to be HUY versus DSA, even when DSA starts long haul. It’s called local rivalry, local pride. 7006fan is in his element when his back is against the wall. There are some damn good contributors on this board from both sides.
I would go a step further and suggest something like a quiz between the two sets of supporters…….sort out the men from the boys, but then I am sure HUY supporters will shy away in fear of humiliation . Like I said, it’s about local pride.

Curious as to why the DSA thread is hardly ever used now, I know they have their own secret society; sorry web page, where you have to register and I.D. yourself to pass comment but......

The quiz sounds interesting, but would depend on what the question base was.?.
A level Physics, the theory of flight, Economics etc OK,
Why is HUY mainly made out of cardboard and DCS glass and high-tech concrete, etc (true, but difficult to answer)
As to a pint, you never know Mr Dearne!!!

If it happens, and in the event you win I\'ll buy you a pint...but I think my money is safe.

Question 1 :-
fooled ya!
Andy-S - Hadnt realised your the forum moderator, anymore rules? Lol
Do enjoy the DSA / HUY debate but at times it does tend to become boring and its the same old few people strutting around with their head up their a**ses.........(waits for a tirade of abuse!)
Surely as aviation professionals / enthusiasts or whatever else you wish to describe yourself surely the point of two airports being so close together is more choice for us, joe public to fly to the destinations we like, both have their good and bad points but surely we can all supports what are both OUR local airports.... or is that just too dammed hard for some of you

Have you mistaken me for someone else? I'm genuinely baffled as to what provoked that remark.

Do you know of any more plans for expansion from Excel make? Are they going to base an a/c over the winter?
Anyone heard anything of a scheduled route?
Do you think the management do things in parts i.e will they maybe have a campaign to try to attract the scheduled airlines?

The management are often talking about trying to expand its winter destinations so as to keep it busy all year round! Would be great in xl could base an aircraft there and increase the frequency on routes and add SSH too!

I fear HUY will never see expansion from Eastern unless international or LCY! I dont think such business routes would be viable with the exception of SOU.
In another thread about Eastern and MME you made the above comment. Rather than take that thread a bit off topic I thought I would pose this question on the HUY thread.
What is the connection between the SOU and HUY areas that might make this one work? I ask as someone who doesn't live in either area.
Many thanks in advance for any reply.

It may not and in fact i believe Eastern may have looked into it but the Humber area is home to many shipping companies, some of whome have offices in Southampton as i know from personal experience and from friends who are forced to make the long drive down there!
Also Copenhagen is a very strong one as when i used to travel there via AMS, there were always others who origionated at HUY, many from Corus, also BAesystems and the various shipping companies in the area!
I dont feel as though Eastern will want to touch this market though and i would be surprised if there was any expansion in terms of routes at HUY in the future.

Oh dear, when will you avaition non professionals accept the harsh realities of life?
Eastern will not expand upon their current schedules from HUY because there is no demand to do so, this is, if you can't accept the truth, is also why HUY can't even support low cost operations.
HUY - LCY is an obvious non starter because of the cost of competing with the railway services.
Further scheduled routes with just about anyone from HUY are also very unlikely because KLM have it all sewn up via AMS.
Furthermore, the only reason that Eastern keep their base Ops at HUY is because it's a very cheap place to do so, and they get many "incentives" to do so. New technology means that they could do it from almost anywhere, and I know for a fact that they're constantly monitering and reviewing this side of their business.

Niknak, do you mind if i ask what your place is in the aviation industry and also which part of the UK you live?
Once again you are right and the 1 million people approx within an hours drive of the airport wont use a service at HUY at all!
