EasyJet to be bought out?

The question is, what does Icelandair whant with Eeasy? Is it possible that they whant to gain a majority stake in the company and use it to supply Icelandair with pax to bring across the pond and thus making it the first low-cost airline on the Atlantic? Now that would be a bold move, viking style.
The speculation is riveting. The truth, however, is that they bought 8 1/2% because they thought the shares were under-valued and are making no moves to buy any more.
End of story I'm afraid.

...oh come on. We're only talking about 10%. Singapore Airlines own 49% of Virgin, and nothing has happened to link the two in the general publics eye.
Icelandair have got no other option but to invest in a company that is Europes low fares airline. They have incedibly limited expansion possibilities and no real ability to do low cost. Maybe this will scare Iceland Express from further expansion.

Read an interesting article in the Sunday Times about Iceland and why its' companies are investing/buying all sorts of stuff. Turns out that the Icelandic pension funds, are either fully funded or over funded, and have to find places to put all the money. This should not be seen as just an airline thing, as it is happening in other sectors as well, Big Food Group, is being pursued by the Vikings as well.
Interesting Fact - population of Iceland - about the same as Nottingham

And what about icelandair protecting its own routes by preventing easyjet from starting into KEF as it is now a major shareholder. At the same time making an investment, two birds with one stone i would say. Clever management??.

unableblahnonsense, as I've only made a few posts you clearly get bored easily. I have no intention of leaving EZY as I like it...the way it is. I don't like what the company council are trying to achieve or their attitude, but that's for another post

Ah, flaps one but it would cost me 1% of my salary to p**s in the wind so I'll pass on that one. If it's any consolation its not the first company council I've run across that sides with the management before the crew.

Won't cost you a penny. Even reverse the charges.
Your statement is totally untrue and you know it so now let's see if you're honourable enough to pick up the phone and make your accusation directly rather than hiding behind a PPrune username.

FlapsOne - it is, but that was back in July!
Actually, it not too bad at all. The good thing is, if you don't like the weather, you only have to wait a few minutes before some brand new weather comes along!
