747-400s for Air Atlanta

Air Atlanta has added two new Boeing 747-400 airplanes to the Atlanta fleet. These are the largest and most advanced type of aircraft made by Boeing. The airplanes will be registered in Iceland, the first of this type to be registered in Iceland as well as in the Nordic countries.
The airplanes will be leased with crew and maintenance service to Iberia, the spanish airlines. The contract with Iberia spans a period of two years during which the routes will be between Madrid and Havana, and between Madrid and the Canary Isles. Estimated revenue from the contract is 5,8 billion Icelandic kronur.

The two white tails at LGW were not -400's.One is EAL's G-reg'd -300,which is still there accumulating parking fees;the other was most likely an Atlanta -200 or -300,which come and go from time to time.
The Atlanta -400's wil most likely be ex Singaporean.

Alex, Although you are correct about the a/c in LGW being 747-300's your not quite correct about the 747-400's.
If you ever go to Japan you will see 747-400's without winglets.
There are also 747-400's without the extended upper deck.. Frieghters..

...the Japanese one's are known as -400D's (D for Domestic). They replaced the "classic" 747SR's used by ANA and JAL.
I believe the SR's" (which didn't have a stretched upper desk) used to seat well over 500, so not sure how many they squeeze into a -400D.
