You won' be seeing the 75's at LBA ,they have been mooted for next year at MAN. They were going to be in place for winter 05 but a number of 'glitches' mitigated against them being leased in.

Rather belatedly I have seeen the May issue of Plane Talk from Manchester today.

It proudly shows the 100,000 passenger for Jet2 in it's first four months at Manchester. This doesn't seem a ba number in that period of time considering they didn't launch the bulk of their routes till towards the end of that 4 month period.

Seems to me rumours of Jets's failure at manchester may be slightly exagerated.

(Before anyone says it I know it's yield not numbers that matters, however I would have thought that in the early days getting bums on seats was important).

Just returned from AMS with Jet2, and load factors were in the 90% bracket in both directions. Not bad

J2 carried 220,000 from MAN between launch and end of April at an average load factor of a shade over 50%. You don't need a degree in math to work out this means they have flown about 220,000 empty seats in that same time. MAN-EDI is the worst performer by far and will,be cut back to twice daily from early August.

Thanks for that info going loco, surprising they have jet2 staff with a 100,000 banner if it's more than double. I guess its the old half full/half empty syndrome.

As you seem to have the information to hand whats the average load factor from LBA then.

Also I would have thought the Gatwick flight was under threat from Manchester too, I have flown it three times and although last time the load was better it still wasnt great, or is it improving.

Just interested to know, thanks.

No news yet about a small operation at Humberside yet then? It would make sense to me if they started operating from HUY as they are well branded in the area and most people i know that use lo-cos use Jet2 at LBA!

I noticed that the two 757s are shown on the register as EXPORT category CofA. I assume this means they will be leased out until the October requirement(and registered abroad til then)?

Question

Some interesting developments at jet 2:

1. Auditor resigns over inter group aircraft leasing arrangement irregularities.

2. Dart Group the owners of JET2/Channel, forced to move from main stock exchange listing to AIM market as unable to fulfil requirements.

3. Fuel hedging at $230 a ton expires in August.

Some interesting questions??

Why would an auditor resign from a PLC over inter group leasing arrangements?

Why would a PLC be forced to go main listing to AIM, Normally it’s the other way around?

How will Jet 2 cope with an a doubling of fuel pricing in august. Current market rate is about $500?

Any thoughts, anyone??

Slightly off-topic, but this is from that report:

[QUOTE]The recent Boeing 737-300 passenger to freighter "Quick Change" conversion programme is now complete, with our Quick Change aircraft operating night-time postal flights for Royal Mail and charters and scheduled passenger services during the day./QUOTE]

I knew Jet2 a/c were doing Royal Mail runs at night, but didn't know about 'Quick Change' aircraft - what does a 'quick change' entail - some kind of folding/sliding of seats in the cabin?

Also, what routes are Jet2 currently operating for Royal Mail?

Quick Change

The QC seats are built on to pallets and are removed as you would remove pallets of cargo. Hat racks and galleys all remain in situ.

Had Jet2 put a bid in for Bournemouth Mail flight currently operated with Titan 737 as this sits at Bournemouth All Day, at least Jet2 could do a few flights in between.

Any news on Bournemouth flights yet

Titan and Channex are in bed together on the Royal Mail contract and have divided the individual routes between themselves. Jet 2 are just Channex with a different paint scheme.

LW is not a QC, but a special freighter.

LP, LR, LZ, LY and LA are the QC machines.

STN-EDI-STN
EDI-STN-EDI
BFS-EMA-BFS-EMA-BFS
EDI-EMA-EDI
EXT-EMA-EXT
NCL-STN-NCL

These as far as I remember are the routes flown by these and leased Islandsglug machines. Titan cover others with 737 SF, 737 QC, and 146 QT.

Just to correct you slightly... G-CELA is not a QC version, is currently flying out of LBA.

I'm sure CELA is a QC, it had a brief spell based at EDI, which requires the QC based aircraft, normally CELZ, because of the cargo ops at night.
