any of you going to africa this year in search of a bush pilot job??

Twin Charter @ 1500TT

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any charter companies in Africa who operate the Baron and/or C310 and employ foreign pilots?
I'm an Australian with 1500TT and 350 Multi Command with ATPL subjects who is keen for another adventure.

Thankyou in advance.

Try PNG. Just like Africa only closer :}
You should piss it in with those hours

DaFly 4th Apr 2011 11:46

Charter companies in Africa? How long a list would you like?

Maybe you want to either specify which region or countries in Africa you would prefer, or what kind of operation you would be looking for?

tom88 4th Apr 2011 11:55

A list of somewhat reputable operators who run the above mentioned aircraft would be sufficient.

Cheers

i am planning to go in maun i october to try to find a job , anybody is going there?

Ankit Kotecha 4th Apr 2011 17:25

yes me. but am not sure about about which country. though Bots in my first option.

Ankit Kotecha 4th Apr 2011 17:31

sir, can you tell me name of few companies in any of the African countries who are CURRENTLY hiring low timed pilots on C172/210s.
I am aware that the hiring season is over. but it will be too long to wait for it. I wish there is any place which needs pilots at the moment, and I could go come there immediately.

I'd like a change of scenery

I'm a flight instructor (CFI/CFII and working on the MEI) with 700TT and 40 multi looking for a change of scenery and to go else where in the world. I'd like to go to Africa, Asia, somewhere but really want a change of scenery. Getting tired of fat girls, (with boyfriends who wear gravy-stained t-shirts attending NASCAR events), malls, and traffic. Any advice? Africa would be great, but not the dangerous areas.

MartinCh 8th Apr 2011 13:35

try to hit 1000hr TT first.
The main hiring season is over for Southern Africa's countries.
Once you're past 1000TT, ideally with bit more twin time, you'd be more competitive for Caravan jobs. There are many posts/threads about Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania.

BTW, you can read up on tightening of the requirements for companies to sponsor foreign pilots, especially fresh from the CPL checkride and thereabouts.

If you really want to go to Asia, there are ways, but better check out Asian section, obviously. Also, with your time, you should be fine for UAE or Saudi, for flight schools. I'm afraid you'd go from US (as we know it) to semi-prison in ME. But hey, different scenery for sure and not likely to get laid or wishing to, there.
