Angel In the name of the lord.....

Aviation Agencies in Nigeria have gathered to seek divine intervention in the sector as the year begins.

They prayed and thanked God for the past year and sought God’s guidance and protections in the new year, saying that safety is of the lord.

The Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Fola Akinkuotu, said that the prayer session was held to commit the year’s activities into the hands of God.

“Having started by asking God our creator to bless the work of our hands, we have asked Him to come into our lives, to guide us, to show us the way, so that we will be able to make the right decisions that will lead this industry to greatness. That those who invest shall be able to profit,” he said.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, Nnamdi Udoh, said that when people of God pray, there will be prosperity in the land.

“We are going to expect a safer and much more customer based aviation environment.

“For us, pray and leave the rest to God and that is what we have done,” he said.
Looks like it will be another radiant year for the Aviation Industry of Nigeria

Nothing - but when all the pax are doing it before takeoff, and just before landing (and even the atheists) - then one has to be more than a little dubious as to the particular airlines ability to get the pax off the ground, and back onto it, in one piece. In this case, most Nigerian Airlines.

Doesn't the expression "a wing and a prayer" come in her somewhere?

This rather springs to mind from Revelations 12:9.

The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

I suppose there were, once upon a time in the days of Smaug, Nigerian dragons?

Nothing. After all we can see tangible results - some potholes were fixed on the taxiway in Port Harcourt last year.

However God stubbornly refuses to get Lagos Control a new radio set despite all the Pilots I fly with imploring him to help after first contact.

Mind you in fairness God has been busy lifting millions of West African people out of abject poverty as well as saving millions from dying of AIDS.

God also seems to approve of the rapidly growing "The Redeemed Christian Church of God Jesus House"

God is not responsible for the starving, nor is He responsible for those that have AIDS, yes, He did create the world, yes He created us and God does care, He cared so much for you that He sacrificed His own Son who is now standing between you and God, mediating for you.

People are starving and dying of AIDS because of our own selfishness and of our own wickedness as humans. This world is broken because of us. When God created it, it was perfect.

This business will do very well, well done!

Hmm, so Nigerians are over the top religious, to the point that they relinquish control of their lives to a higher power. That's pretty damn delusional... sounds like the missionaries have done a number on Nigeria

Yes that seems to me like the act of a rational being. I'll pop down to our park and sacrifice my four children to show some caring for the local community - they would like that I'm sure.

I do like a little bit

Although I don't like the wickedness bit as in my experience most people I come across are not (apart from the git who nicked $1100 dollars out of my room in the Hillcrest Hotel)

When God created it, it was perfect.
Not too sure how you know that is true - were you around at the time or did you just read it in the BIBLE.

I saw some Fairies at the bottom of my garden last night - OK I can understand some of you may doubt me - but I swear it was true - on me Mother's life - one of 'em spoke to me - yeah right.

It seems like this is turning into a evangelism mission rather than a flying forum but if you are really interested:

God is perfect and Holy, the only sacrifice that was good enough to die in our place was His own Son, who is also perfect and Holy. God actually detest humans who sacrifice their own children. Now you will ask, then why did he sacrifice His own Son? For You! To fix what have gone wrong a long time ago.

Although I don't like the wickedness bit as in my experience most people I come across are not (apart from the git who nicked $1100 dollars out of my room in the Hillcrest Hotel)
And you have paid for all your movies and music that you own? Pirating is just as good as stealing, you cant say you have never stole something? $1100 or a mp3, stealing is stealing. Have you ever slept with another man's wife? Maybe no, but if you have just fantasized in your mind about her, you have just as well slept with her, adultery. Wicked? Believe me I am not judging you, I cant get it right myself but I live under the grace of Jesus. look up the song Amazing Grace on wiki and read the whole article

You are funny

So something as complex as the human body evolved over millions of years from soup?

I am not a biologist but if you just look at the complexity of one cell, the smallest part of our body, and the amount of detail in it and how it interacts with other cells to build a functioning organism like ourselves, common, that was not a accident? If you look at the universe, everything is perfect, the earth is the perfect distance from the Sun, turns at the perfect speed ens. this is by accident?

Many a very educated atheist have tried to disprove Jesus, God and the Bible. After their study, sometimes it took them years they came to the discovery that they can't and they committed themselves to God.

Why don't you go and read the Bible for yourself before you make any comments about it. After all, it is the best seller of ALL times.

No, you aren't. Nor are you a physicist, or even mildly educated apparently. The processes by which cells became complex, human being evolved, and the Earth found itself in it's current reasonable (not perfect) position relative to the sun, are EXTREMELY well understood. (Multicellularity, Evolution, Anthropic Principle, Kepler's 3rd law etc)

God of the gaps argument. Absolute classic. And even then you couldn't use real gaps, only gaps in your own knowledge.

Instead of telling people to read the Bible (which I have, and when read with an open mind I would say is one of the quickest ways to become Atheist) perhaps you should read.. oh, ANY scientific literature.

As for disproving, nobody has yet been successful in disproving the fairies at the bottom of exeng's garden; perhaps you should convert to Fairyanity? You see, there is a logical fallacy behind every one of your arguments, and I'm very surprised you're still using them. (There are actually far better arguments than yours for the existence of god; they're all tripe of course, but at least not as easy to knock out the park as yours!)

You did get one thing right. This is a flying forum, and as such, prayer is absolutely not a factor when considering the safety of fellow human beings. Airlines relying on magic to keep their passengers safe instead of good maintenance and training should be ridiculed and shut down. Not in that order.
