One can only hope that this Sunday morning, in Johannesburg and where ever else the jet-black diamonds roam, the air is filled with the sound of music.
Mind you though, it could have been a lot more amusing to watch England play Argentina. The Welsh and the Scots would, for once, perhaps have been confused as to which team to support.
Well done the Springboks!

England rose

English Rugby chiefs have announced they are replacing the red rose on their team shirt with a red tampon as this is the worst period they've ever had!

Even if we didn't get to watch the game, because DRC is NOWHERE into Rugby, we are still happy with the result!

Congrats to the Bokke, well done guys!

Hey Jamex...
Yes, you won, congrats.

Thats the difference between us, you would be whining like you wouldnt believe if it had been the other way round, probably claiming racism.
We accept it, I am not 100% sure one way or the other if it was a try, but either way, nothing will change the facts this morning.

But bear one thing in mind, you will not have Jake White, half your team is going to play in Europe as of the coming season and will probably never play as the same team again, your rugby/sport is rotten with politics and from being world champs, there is only one way to go...(ask England)

Also, not an excuse, a fact. You guys played good rugby throughout the competition, but you had only 2 games against a recognised team, both those games were against England.

The top half of the competition had New Zealand, Australia, England and France in it, your half had, SA, Argentina, Fiji and ...(cant remember who it was, Scotland perhaps- but that just goes to show) a much easier route to the final.

I know that is luck of the draw and we would all rather the easier route to the final, but not even I claim England has been near a competetive side since the last World cup final, so I think you can thank your lucky stars it was against England in the final and not France or NZ.

So, on reflection, you are worthy winners and you should be proud and enjoy it, but arrogance is not a pleasant traite.

Inspite of your comments about us being lucky not to face France in the Final, you sound like a rather intelligent chap.

Now, were an intelligent and knowledgable gentleman to be a betting man, he may well have placed some money on the 2007 World Cup.
In order to come out on top with the bookies he would in all likelyhood have bet on Australia because that would be a safe bet. He could also bet on France as they had home side advantage and we know that they can always pull the cat out of the bag. He would definately bet on South Africa because they are playing really well at the moment. He certainly wouldn't bet on New Zealand as we all know that they do not have an impressive World cup track record and he sure as hell wouldn't bet on England because their performance has been dismal in the run up to the World Cup.
Now, had he bet carefully on the above mentioned sides he probably would have walked away with enough money to go out and buy himself an England rugby jersey. He wouldn't even have had to win very much as they are probably being sold very cheaply from today!!!!

Fly safe

south coast,
Re the disputed try, if the shoe was on the other foot, easy path to the final, etc: I've searched high and low for a 'remarks column' but all I can find is our name on the trophy.

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?

Southcoast, what can I say? Your beginning to get tiresome with typical pom whingeing. Yeah sure, you once had an empire...seems you also once held the rugby world cup. Please take note, England has played in six RWC's and won once, SA have played in four RWC's and won twice. We now have the best "strike rate" beating even Australia who, like yourselves, been there six times to our four. At least the Aussi's won it twice in that time. Also, they were much more gracious in defeat in 2003 than you seem able to be. We have enough talent here to put together another world beating side and we have enough decent coaches too. No need for us to be importing players at all. Oh, by the way Mr Southcoast, Sir, it seems we had an all SA Super 14 final this year too and our Springbok C team gave the AB's and Wannabees a run for their money, in their own countries too, nogal, in the Tri-nation series. We also lost three (3) first choice players in Jean De Villiers, Pierre Spies and BJ Botha, we then lost Schalk Burger to a dubious citing and still managed to thrash you guys 36-0 in the pool match! Maybe this might give you a hint as to the depth of SA rugby? Seems we just may be able to succesfully defend the trophy in 2011 which is something our proud(not) "mother country" could not do!

What do you call an Englishman holding the Rugby World Cup trophy?

An engraver

Guys, please keep it nice; this subject has zilch to do with aviation but has been part of a lot of our lives for the past month; it's sport & there is no reason for any acrimony.

Fly safe out there.

When you are stuck in some hole in some megatropolis in some banana republic on this delightful continent of ours sharing accomodation with a bunch of guys of various nationalities then, believe me, a bunch of idiots chasing an egg has everything to do with aviation. Its the reason the aircraft was grounded on Saturday afternoon due "technical"

Go forward 1 frame. His foot was on the touchline. IE: he was out, hence no try. good call by the TMO.

Hey dionysius
Thanks for the pic, mate. If you have another one from a micro-second later, you would notice the toes touching the white stuff called a "touch-line", this BEFORE the ball is grounded. When you touch the line, BEFORE grounding the ball, you are "in touch", follow so far? Ever heard the saying "the touch-line belongs to the linesman?" Check your rulebook, mate. This is a game the poms supposedly invented. The IRB is in Dublin, Ireland. The UK guys write the rules or have the most influence on them. Dont whinge when those same pesky rules bite you in the back-side!! Anyway, the player who "created" the try that wasnt, should have been in the sin-bin for the unnecessary shove on Montgomery. No doubt, his intention was never to injure our kicker!! Even HAD the try been awarded and even HAD Jonny converted, not necesarily a given as he had been kicking poorly the whole series, the score would have been 15-13 in favour of the Springboks!!! If referee decisions were always perfect, the 'Boks win record over the last 12 years would've looked a lot better. You guys gloated over your fifty pointer in 2002 where you played a 14 man 'bok side which was down to 13 men for ten minutes of the game at one point. You didnt think we were going to leave it there, did you now? When our team has beaten your team four times in one season, then I think the best team won the cup. Why not graciously concede the point and get on with it?
Anyway, enough said on what is after-all an aviation forum.

GET OVER YOURSELVES!!

Winston Churchill once read through a report from the Admiralty which he found unsuitably long winded, biased and inaccurate.
In the margin of the report he penned the two words,
'Round Objects.'
That seems an appropriate enough comment for much of that which has here gone before?

Jamex, we the English have, as you have said, graciously conceeded defeat.

Perhaps you might learn some lessons on gloating and living up to the stereotype of South Africans being abhorrantly arrogant when it comes to sport. (re. your last post)
