KS,

I spent about 2 months in Angola with Zimex, and about two years with Ziex in Algeria. More details on your e-mail.

Zimex in Angola

Hi to all the flyers in Africa,

heard of Zimex doing a B1900D contract in Angola.
I have checked their website, but they have no indication they operate B1900D. Only DHC6 and PC6's.
Anyone have any info on who to contact for B1900 jobs and if they are actually recruiting any crews?

any info much appreciated.
Cheers

Angola 1900

Hi
Don't know much about this contract, but a friend of mine works with Zimex there so if it can help :
- their captain are Zimex pilots, co pilots are local
- They started a long while ago already, so they must have their crew by now
- looks like they work 4 weeks on 4 off or 6/6 I'm not sure
- requirements for this was not only JAR licence based.........

Morality : don't always trust what is written on a Company website..

Thank you to all of you who pitched in with their knowledge.

international hog driver:

are all of your F/O's on the B1900 Angolans? is it worth making a contact with someone at Zimex and who ?

I happen to meet all the requirements in the Zimex website and would like to further explore the issue.

any lead is well appreciated.

I had strange experience while applying to Zimex. I meet all their requirements and sent an application as per their instruction. Every time I contacted them they would ask me to send new application. I find their hiring process quite strange, I am not even sure if they are really hiring at all, may be its just gimic of showing a vacancy in the web which did not exist.

Apparently there is no movement there these days like there was in the past, hence no job openings like there was. Plus I doubt the website is keep 100% updated and accurate.

Thanks to all of you who replied.

What is interesting, Zimex does't advertise or mention about their Angola contract nor do they inlcude the B1900D in their operating fleet.

I know a chap who joined with just around 700 hours on tailwheel. I guess, as has been said, that was 'in the old days'.

Zimex Aviation/King Air Services

Hi all,
Anyone with some information about Zimex and/or King Air Services? I've got a JAR CPL/IR/ME, 1100TT with 600 ME piston. This ME time is all east africa experience. No rating on the types they fly though but prepared to invest if this would help me to get the job.
Sound like cool companies to work for...

King Air Service

Look out my friend before you move out with King Air Service of S.A. , better you ask for the contract on paper.
The Italian owner have the tendecy to play game .He likes to make come over pilots from other contreis with promises of money , job and so on and then ... nothing happen. He will tell you several escuses .Now for better deal with him ,just tell him if he is ready to send you an agreement on paper and also the airline ticket ,return of course. If not do not go.

Hi P68Bravo,
Did you apply with them, and what did you have to offer - TT & ratings. So what's up now, you've got a cool job? Did you try with Airserv? Their pilots -those I met- didn't complain. But you need a FAA license which I don't have.
cheers!

the contract with the owner of King Air Service was discuss in italian language which is the the mother tongue for me and the above mentioned owner ,so I do not have to learn anythink about. Then you can be proud of what ypu want ,but not everybody have to be proud of the miserable work conditions were you work.
Now lets talk seriousily
Dear my friend skyboyerik , mine was a friendly advice coming out from my personal experience ,now you can take or not ,that is up to you , what I would like to remand you is that you are already a professional pilot ,no matter your experience,so you are giving your service to the company that will hire you.Keep up with you proud and do not offer to pay for type rating because you will run the market ,already run by many pilots.
Air Serve offer me a job as pilot in Iraq ,but I refused due to the war in that region.
Remeber when you receive an offer make sure that you have all the agreement on the paper and / or at least ask for the return ticket to /from the country where are you from.I know one serious South African company does that the name is NAC.Contact them the staff there is very friendly and onest for as far as I know.Several company in Africa offer me a job ,but look most of them are not to go.If you want I will sent to you the blak list of the company" not go "in Africa

*******

I think its only fair to critisize any company once you have worked for them and have some reasonable grounds for the critisizim.
I think you should stay a casa con mama and forget about Africa. You want the low down private message me..

Ciao
