So, would you recommend this for a person who has "low time and low experience" or for a person who is retired and looking for a career change and less money but more flying?
Your right it is a "time builder", and it seems like the pilot who will benefit from them are the one who are just starting out as they do pay for all training and licenses. What do you think?
Also, if anybody reading this who works for Zimex you are more than welcome to comment as well. I am also looking for some info on the work environment as opposed to the pay structure.

Sorry amigo, I was gone long time.
I flew for zimex from 92 to 96, so my info might be a little out/o/date, but what I can say is that as a begining of a carrier it was just the good job. Lot's of adventures, lot's of flying, lot's of interresting people, lot's of jerks as well but hek, that's part of it isn'it? - Anyway, I was based in Angola and in Algeria, as a DHC-6 pilot. Was paid around 5000swiss francs/ month...Tell me what kind of DHC-6 driver position can match this(And I was an F/O at that time!) was working 8 weeks on /4 off, paid off-shore always on time. Aicraft was in good condition, always an engineer with the aircraft on any operations. I've done some goofy things for them but flying under those conditions put you some day on the verge, you just got to accept it, ortherwise you go fly air-france (-).
I don't know where they operate now, but for sure stil in northern africa for oil companies, some contract on 5 weeks on 5 weeks off. Don't hesitate to contact them, and give it a try, it's the best to know...I enjoyed my time with them, but must admit that after a while it's good to lok for something else.

Can anyone supply me with information on the actual conditions, living and flying, for Zimex's operation in Angola? I am after information regarding living conditions, country security etc. Any comparison to PNG?

The most important difference between PNG and Angola is that Angola's season is mid-year whereas PNG is best around Xmas. And the multiple police and military checkpoints during the 1-2 hour drive that make it one of the few places in the world where you have to pay to surf... but those straight line, south atlantic swells are well worth it

You won't want to surf by yourself, due to the African equivalent of "rascals". Neither do Zimex provided 4wds, needed to get to any of the decent breaks there.
