Red face zimBOBwe Instructors to teach SAAF pilots ..

I think it again a tad of bad journalism .. most probably just exchange instructors. In my time they where normally from Israel, Chile and Korea ...

From Rapport : Will search for English version..

Zim-instrukteurs gaan vlieëniers van SA leer vlieg
LOUIS OELOFSE

(CARLO : Always had a lot of respect for you mate ... but what a kak comment. - so he is also into CAF politics like Roelf Beukes ended up in.)

Die Zimbabwiese lugmag maak juis gebruik van 'n ouer weergawe van die BAE Hawk, wat die nuwe opleidingsvliegtuig vir Suid-Afrika se vegvlieëniers gaan word.

...A short precis.

Zim instructors to train SA military.

SAAF student pilots will be trained at Langebaanweg in the Western Cape by Zimbabwean instructors in future.

It was announced at a wings parade by Lt Gen Carlo Gagiano that the Zimbabweans will arrive within the next few weeks to train the current intake of pilots in an effort to work more closely with other regional Air Forces.

This follows unwarranted claims of racism against the current (mainly white) instructors at Langebaan.

Thousands of Rands worth of damage was done to an Astra (PC-9) trainer after a hard landing by a student who was repeatedly failed but still allowed to continue the course at the insistence of government officials. (My italics.) After the incident, Minister Lekota (Defence) stated that students who failed in future would be sent to Botswana to determine whether they "did, in fact, fail".

Gagiano stated that he was "absolutely satisfied" with the standard of the Zim instructors. (Guns' comment here...)

Zimbabwe uses an older version of the BAe Hawk, which will become the new trainer for the SAAF.

Easy wasy to get rid of the Racism is to take these new Black Pilots and let THEM be the instructors. You would solve two problems. Eliminate any racism and eliminate most of the aircraft....

Thumbs down

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Gen Gagiano....very very sad that you have to be the mouthpiece that broadcasts this absolute drivel. A very good friend of mine who was one of the chief flight instructors down in Langebaan, was " asked" to take six months unpaid leave, due to him failing this exact student twice. He was told to return once he had corrected his racist attitude.... .... As you all know, the rest is history.

I say let them have it all...just give the F g whole airforce to them, and let them complete the destruction of the previously excellent, now ridiculous SAAF. As an ex member it brings so much anger and resentment, but I do know there is nothing to be done about it. SAD SAD SAD

At least its noticed...........

Sounds like another case of "Positive Discrimination" (Affirmative Action). Unfortunately, for those of us burdened with a paler hide, the discrimination remains a negative experience, no matter how much the powers that be hide the Zimbabwe-isation of the economy in a morass of jargon.

I always thought the whole "liberation struggle" was to ensure this kind of discrimination, based on race, never happened again?

Angry TOP GUN - OLD DOGS

Eish as they say in the movies. It sounds like the old dogs can't appreciate that the Brothers cannot be TOP GUN in one month. So maybe the landing was a bit hard. Isn't that what training aircraft are designed to handle. Big deal!!! We have been told that when Zuma takes over we will finally not have to answer to the Old Dogs. Give SA another 15 years and we will have an African Paradise where we don't have to perfrom tricks on demand for the Old Dogs.

What tricks? You are not able to learn any tricks from these "old dogs", because puppies like you simply just don't shape my boy. If you wanna p s with the big dogs, make sure you can raise your leg high enough.

Training aircraft are designed to take a punishing, but they are not designed to be destroyed by total incompetence. But then again, in your view, everything that goes wrong with your eliterate tribe, is blamed on "apartheid".

And I've got news for you. Schabir is gonna make damn sure that Jacob does'nt feature anywhere in a few years to come. Maybe you should join Patricia so that she can educate you. I must say, you are acting rather dumb!

Talking Thank goodness for autopilots

Hey Folks

I think you guys should invest in Pilatus, seeing that it seems that they will have to replace many an airplane yet to come. It is a shame that the SAAF is not the SAAF we used to know, but I think the powers that be should insist on letting their failed students fly the VIP jets.

Fortunately the advances in automated piloting has come a long way, and we could automate all of the flight cycle. The only problem is that the passengers don't like this idea. Who knows, maybe they should have an option on flights where the passengers can vote for pilot/autopilot.

May the force be with you.

Lightbulb Pilatus

Talked to an engineer on the Pilatus's at Langebaan yeaterday.

He reckons the airframes are badly corroded and has been for a while.

Maybe the ZimBO's are just there to chip the rust off during landings

Zim Aviators

Hey Brothers, what's up. So the little Swiss Aircraft cannot live by the sea well. I don't like the comment about Zim drivers chipping rust. But then again we are used to flying real machines - those built in the USSR. Now you have to agree the Red Brothers know how to build the machines !!!!
