Guys...

I have told Bert of the events of the last week, but must now acknowledge that I probably will not make it to CT for the bash...

I have MANY choice words to describe my feelings towards the people responsible, but lets leave those aside for now -

My house was broken into on Wednesday night. I am re-painting and fixing up a bunch of things, so am not staying there while this is done. It did not stop the b*st*rds from coming through the electric fence, posting a "guard" outside my employees cottage and then going in through a window after all but destroying the security gate at the kitchen door. They could not get through it tho'.

So, they then take whatever they could and trash the place.

When my employee thought it safe, he called me - I got there just after 5a.m. - but obviously the creatures had long gone.

It has now cost me in excess of 35k just to try secure the place - never mind the losses..

Viva the 'new SA', viva...

Bert, Gunss, Francois and all the guys - if the bash goes over to just the first week next month - I will be there... that's a promise...

I don't expect you to change things now - just let me know if maybe you want a revenge meet the following week and I'll jump a plane down.

Cheers

R

To Francois

Many thanks for the organising another REALLY great party last night. It was great to catch up with everyone and chagt and rink again.

Great to meet Bert - all you chaps that missed the party really have missed out on a great evening.

Guns good to see you alive and well, but it was also super to meet Alfred. I think he deserves a special mention for coming all the way to the party. At least we managed to get him to stop drinking his fanta grape and even have a taste of a traditional cape drink!! Amazing what the cape can do to a person!!

Sorry that Bladedroop and dubble driver could not make it - apparantly they were help up from crossing the runway by AYC or so the rumout has it!!!!

Now when is the next party.

Hey!! Goudvis Jan!!

Sorry I couldn't make it, I had "other commitments" I had to attend to. I would have LOVED to have been there. Seeing that you're around the corner from us, you should come join "Boertjie" and D.K for a drink (or 12) here by us sometime, and the rest of the Pruners are also MOST welcome. See it as a follow on to last night.

Give me a PM and I'll give you more details re. tomorrow night here.

Alfred, we're stocked up on the Fanta Grape.

I understand the party was great!

Rumour has it that Alfred is not a freshman at the controls, but a seasoned combat pilot, with many, many hours on about 10 different types of helicopters. Not bad for a West African, especially of color. Rumour also has it this this boy will soon be poling Mbekis "Inkwazi" around.

Anyway, I'm kinda sorry I could not make it, but I spoke to some of the boys there, and general consensus was that it was a most pleasant evening.

Some of the issues apparently raised at the party, is how divided the aviation fraternity in Cape Town is. There appears to be a lot of animosity, bad mouthing and discrimination amongst pilots, which is truly a worrying factor. It is my experience that the whites in general, have never really "taken hands", but this sort of behaviour is totally unacceptable, especially since it is such a small community. It appears that financial consideration is the "prime evil" and instigator in this case.

Come on guys, forget about the ego's. Take hands to make the aviation industry better for all of us. Forget about who's better than the other. stick together and stop criticizing one another.

Safe Flying!

Thanks Francois my man

Everyone had a great time, even Alf, after much persuasion and arm wrestling, was induced to imbibe in some Tassies. Me thinks he enjoyed it

Great meeting the Yank contingent, new friends and buddies of old.

Cheers guys

Thanks for a great party guys. Turnout was great, and I loved the jokes & the stories. Thanks to the ladies for keeping us entertained.

It sure was a load of fun, and I look forward to the next one.

The highlight was of course meeting Alfred

Happy & safe flying guys!

Francois

Once again thanks and I agree - what a great character Alfred is - such a gentleman - he could almost be an ATC!!!!!

You all take care out there and if you see Elvis, tell him Alfred wants to donder him, ag sorry what an aggressive statement, meet him and drink fanta grape with him.

Clipboard - I do not think you are really right about the amonosity- there are some great operators out there make no mistake and very professional at that - there are just one or two bad singers, sorry eggs and their friends that are out to stuff it up for everyone.

They are the people giving aviation a bad name and making it difficult for everyone to ops under.

Now if we could have a few more characters like Alfred around then it would be different - and maybe his cousins could address the Elvis issue and sort it out

Back in Pretoria after a great time. Francois did it again and the SECOND PPrune Cape Bash is in the books and hopefully none of us are in jail....
Alfred is quite a character but he has to learn that in a civilized world he just cannot keep peeing in the flowerbeds. IT is also apparent that he will have a tough time learing how to fly as he talks a lot with his hands........Also speaks a funny language. AND nobody should drink Fanta.
Nice to meet some of the folks who post on PPrune, specially because nobody called me by my Internet name .
Heres hoping we will all be around for the next year.
Your welcome in Vega$ anytime.
