Thumbs up Thank You Cape Flying Services

A belated thank you for training Gunsss Junior last year.

After reading Sandy's thread (again) I thought it to be appropiate to share my experiences with Mr Todd and CFS.

During the latter part of last year I searched for the best flying school for my son (from Cape Town) and I found that CFS was my choice. I wanted him to be "away from mom" for a while as to do his own thing.

Well not only did he successfully passed, Gerald also invited him to become a "boy pilot" (think that is what you said GT ?) - in short it means GT will use him to work for him while training for his CPL as Gunnss and Gunnss Jnr can not pay for his CPL. (earning usless $ 's you know)

Gunnss Jnr was helped when he rolled his car ... a personal touch that I will never forget thanks GT. Gunns was flying somewhere in Africa and Mrs Gunns was on BA flying to London when the accident happened.

GT as a "father figure" sorted out all the doctors, AA , panel beaters ... everything and he did not need to.

This meant that Jnr stayed another 2 weeks extra (recovering from bruises and stiffness ) - and yes George Tower - the weather was cr@p - even so CFS never asked us a cent extra in accomodation !

Yes, there was a day or two that they could not fly due to maintenance or a maintenance check up from the CAA - all part of running a flying school.

Gunns Jnr got his PPL and he loved being trained by the very professional crews of CFS.

I can just add that the great "family atmosphere" struck me on my visit in January this year (more later).

Thanks for taking care of my kiddo GT and Sandy - they took him and other students for boat rides / fishing etc on the maintenance days .. what other flying school will do that ??

On Gunss Jnr 's completion I further studied the flying school and when we had to send 6 student for CPL's ... what did we choose ?

Yes CAPE FLYING SCHOOL. (more later).

Thanks again GT, Sandy other Gerald (CFI) and co.

My best wishes to your lovely kids S and S ...

Cheers,

Gunnsss (PS : Now I am sure you know who I am ... or do a lot of students roll their cars and people send you 6 students to say THANK YOU ??? )

Gunnnsss

Happy to see your son had a "happy" flying experience at CFS, sorry to hear about his accident and I hope he is well on the mend.

You would expect that the "guardian" of your son during his training would be available to pull out the stops to ensure his welfare is above question, is that not what you would expect?

perhaps, the detailed and updated thread I have submitted might have "shook" the CFS foundation in ensuring that whilst the spotlight is firmly on their methods, they will continue to ensure that all training and student welfare will no doubt be above any question, in particular, they will ensure that you get at least what is advertised.

Just maybe but a big "just" they will have learned some lessons from my thread and you have to say, you just cannot beat the ability, freedom or democracy to express your opinions especially within this forum.

well done PPrune

Regards

Sandy Young

Thank you for the business Gunship !! It was pleasure training up your boy and I look forward to taking him to Commercial standard. As for the six students, well the last one left for home yesterday. I think they all had a great time, and I am sure you will be pleased with the standard they achieved in the time given.

Looking forward to our next beer.

Arrow West African Student Feedback

Lo Gerald et all,

I got this post BEFORE I got the e-mail that our 6th student passed.

Sorry about the delay in my second post but Sandy put a temp stop to me posting here again.

That over - the flying game is bigger than he will ever be.

Here goes :

After my son's succesful PPL I had a good look at all the flying schools incl accomodation and adaptability - especially with "foreign students" and again I HAD to take Cape Flying Services !

Well 5 out of 6 students made it.

Yes .. stranegely the one that made it has not complained ONE day ... no sir - he knew he is not fit to be a pilot and we gave money for 5 hours extra ... no more .. no daddy's pocket - no rich ******s that wants to fly and will try and try till death do them part ..

As Gerald said 5 is back and their BIGGEST COMPLAINT ! !!! (Sand I am sure you will read this) was ....

There are WAY too little rice on their plates !

Seriously Gerald went out of his way with a B I E G way to help these students (that has never been out of their own country - never mind FLY) settling into George and the flying.

A big thank you from all of us !

PS: If I remember correctly you will have 4 next year, followed by 6 the year after that.

Good luck to you and your great Flying School.

God Bless you, S, S and S.

Gunssss

I dont think the comments on hear are objective.
If you send your son or daugher to a school and they do you extra favours you cant say now they are the best it doesnt make sense
You must consider everything that happens and to everyone surely?

Pilot Schooling

Doing a PPL is like buying a car....

You either get good service, or you get the short end of the stick.

I also believe that before I part with my money to send my jr for his license (still 8 years away) I will also do some thorough research.

And yes, there are some good schools in SA, with CFS in my humble opinion one of them. Big enough to make a difference, small enough to care....now where did I hear that one before.

So it is entirely possible for one guy to feel aggrieved, while another guy feels like a king....

Gunss, drink 'n Tassie op my....

As for you SAM6 - you are slowly but surely starting to tick me off with you crappy attitude...

Lo freightboss,

Great summary :

Big enough to make a difference, small enough to care
Yeah I remember Xmass 78 when dad said ... what do you want to do - I have saved some money for you.

If you want to sweep the streets of Pretoria ... I can buy you a very good broom or ..

Well needless to say 26 / 27 Dec I was enrolled at Avia Flying club

Strange those qualifications was "hated" those days by the SAAF and most PPL 's never even got close to selection criteria in the SAAF.

frieghtboss at least you have time left - it is so quick and kids are you men

All the best in you decission one day !

Gunzzzz

Thanks for the interest Skaz

Not sure if I am allowed to advertise our web site on PPRUNE, but as you asked for it Skaz, here it comes.
www.flightschool.co.za I suppose the moderator will remove it if I have wronged. Gunship you will find few pictures of your “boys” under the CFS Today link, if you want to take a look.
