Danger Mig 21 down in Guinea

Just heard on the News that Guinea's only operational Mig - 21 crashed of the coast of Conakry, killing the pilot.

From a friend in Conakry !

A single-seat Mig-21 crashed near Kassa. They still have nine birds.
Pilot ejected safely, but subsequently drowned.

Unhappy

From News 24 :

A Guinean air force pilot successfully ejected from his crashing
MiG 21 combat fighter but drowned after plunging into the Atlantic Ocean off
Conakry, a military source said on Thursday.

The pilot, Flight Sergeant Nama Keita, had taken the jet for a test flight
on Tuesday after mechanics managed to start up its engine, which had broken
down, said the source, who asked not to be named.

Fishermen recovered the body from the sea off the west African country.

Not funny - but...

Im'e sorry guys...

Any loss is bad, but where there is sadness, there is sometimes humour...

Now, the following has got me laughing so much I gotta go take a leak...

" after mechanics managed to start up its engine, which had broken down, said the source, who asked not to be named."

What the were they thinking...? Not exactly talking about a Vespa, here..

Cheers

Talking

THis was sad and scarey news to me as KASSA Island is our favourite fishing / jolling / party place

Last time I was there (In February) a formo of three Mig's came buzzing over us a few times (yes we flew the American flag)

About two years ago their Gunship came overhead and gave a great buzz - up until he came air taxying past and saw it was me.

Then we had a GREAT Airshow (Russian Test Pilot) by a great friend.

Eischhh maybe I must look up other "fishing waters"

Anyway RIP Mate - could not remeber the guy - just know the chopper jocks.

Aircraft in use : Mi -8 / 17 , Mi - 24 / Hughes 500's (from Israel) and then the Mig's.

Cheers,

Gunss
