Divert at the appropriate time is the message. It sounds as if 'extra' would have been sensible (NB I have not seen the report) but PLOG was easily enough to safely conduct the flight and diversion from your description. Hopefully they had formulated some 'plans' in the 2 hrs en-route?
If the weather was as you imply, I would have hoped a good base captain would have chided them for not taking '
more'.
