Are you allowed pen and paper in the aptitude test?
I don't think people need to worry about failing the 2nd last test horribly. Most likely the test is taken as a whole and a certain % required to pass, instead of a pass % for every individual test.

Haha, I guess she get a lot of fun reading the threads here, where many applicants are very nervous and concern about the tests she in charge ! And also she knows she's cute ! (whom I think she make the ambiance of the test less tense)

Initial Test 24th Feb - Maths advice
Hey guys,
I will be attending the initial test on wednesday 24th and I'm sure I will meet some of you on the same day. (Gd Luck to you all!)
I want to kindly ask the ppl who have sat the initial test about the maths test. I have read through the previous posts but I want to know what kind of level the test is. Is it all about interpretation of tables using %, ratios etc. As we are not given a calculator, do we have to work with long multipl./divisions and decimals? How hard do you ppl find it? ( I did engineering )
Thanks for any comments!
Gd Luck ppl for tmrw! 23rd

Hey there,
Interpretation of tables using percentages and ratios is only a part of the test. Other sorts of questions include finding the shortest route (out of a number of routes), fuel-time-distance calculations regarding a boat, finding the best deal out of two supermarkets, etc.
The gist is to work quickly, and make sensible guesses as is appropriate. The mathematics required is just basic arithmetic, but there is a lot of it, and there will be time pressure. You will need to calculate the numbers manually, but the numbers won't be overly large or inconvenient. Just keep your cool and do/guess as much as you can. I think it is impossible to finish the test without making guesses at times. If you have an engineering background, more likely than not you will do just fine.

found my invitation email in my spam folder and it was 10 days late. They've confirmed me now and my initial screening will be on March 3. Anyone else doing it on the same day?

The test is slightly different for the international batch, i assume quite a few people got caught out on the difference. The maths test should be completable, but the stress will cause one to forget some simple shortcuts which will extend the time required considerably. The person next to me was only half way through the test when we timed up.

It was in HK, i don't think there is any tests overseas. Did your Dragonair in house listening test allow you to read the questions first? We weren't allowed at all, although quite a few individuals cheatingly did so anyway. The HR caught quite a few, but didn't disqualify them as they suggested initially. Kind of unfair if you ask me, the questions would be very easy if we were allowed to see them first.

Yes, it would've been a joke if one was allowed to read the questions before the audio. I was sitting right up front so I never realized that actually caught people peeking at the questions.

How did ur maths go? I find it difficult as I completed abt half. I wanted to see if I have any chance cos u did the AT didnt u?
BTW Check ur PM

Any locals mind sharing their thoughts on the first listening test? Honestly even from an English background, a few of them were near impossible to distinguish for me, and it seemed awfully fast for the locals. (by locals i mean those who grew up in HK, i'm aware we all have a HKID )

yeah i agreed with JYLG & Yvonne, it would've been a joke if we could look at the questions before listening to the passages
i find the math difficult as well
the woman said the wait is about a week or so right..or did she say weeks...i couldn't really understand her
