Hi, i think i have got the same offer. I am also turboprop guy with 1700h but not Dash rated.... Did they ask u also for 9000 Euros for type ratiting???
I am not going to accept because I have just been employed by another Company.
Brulin, in the email it's written that they offer dash 8 rating for 9000 euros, but I don't understand if it's a bond they are talking about, and that is the info I got during my assessment days in Riga, or it's the cash they want.

From what I understand , the situation regarding the TR has to be negotiated during the Interview . Basically you'd have to pay somehow but HOW is discussable . Rds
I do not know what is the 'list' to call the pilots in the pool. I'm in since end of August, I called Daiga last week and she told me that I should have some updated information during next week, and what I see here she didn't lie, but I'm still waiting my email
What now is disturbing my mind is those 9000 €. When I was in my interview they told me that I was going to be bonded, they didn't say anything about pay for your TR. Could anyone who has received that email be more specific??
I got called for assessment day next month for the Q400. I, like you CHECHE, are a little worried about the 9,000 euro. Does anybody know about the payment of said: upfront, deducted from salary etc?? Even if you have to pay up front will they bond you too? I will of course put these questions to them at the interview but I've no patience!
@marghe83, I've 800 turboprop hrs and 1030TT. No Dash time. Thanks and good luck to you too.
Yep, same offer to me, the 9000 euros was a little shock, must be a new thing. If the payment of said is negotiable then that's a little plus however, it may turn me off this one in the end. I mean they put a 1000 hr minimum requirement on this Q400 position, if they need money that bad they should have just left it at a fATPL min. req. that way they would get plenty of kids to pay much more that 9000 me thinks Maybe I shouldn't be giving them ideas though
this is part of the email I received yesterday, so you can interprete it. I have no clue if it's 9000 bond, as agreed during the assessment, or 9000 euros upfront before starting the training.
"[...] We have new vacancies on Dash 8 Q400 and before I’m going further with employment offer details, I would like to explain employment conditions at the moment. At the moment we are hiring either candidates with a Dash 8 Q400 Type Rating or non-rated candidates that agree to complete the type rating at a highly discounted price of 9000EUR per pilot.
If you are willing to consider our offer and this opportunity, please let me know and I will prepare official offer letter where our employment conditions will be explained more detailed. [...]"
I just applied a couple of weeks ago for the Q400 position, and got an email saying that I was in the pool and that they would contact me when they had their dates ready.. Now, I wonder.. Is this an email they send out to eveyone that meets their standards or is it an email saying that they are really interested in you???
does anyone have a name or a contact info for the person responsible for reqruiting at AirBaltic??? The emails that I have recieved has no direct contact person, just a generic contact info from their HR....
Hi To All, I Have Received The Same Email That Invites Me For The Closest Recruitment Day On 21 Feb Or Other Days Till The Middle Of March. The Problem Is That They Didn't Give Me Any Infos About The Type Of Contract, I Mean Permanent Or Not, And Then They Told Me That They Will Pay Me The Ticket Go/back, Does Someone Know If Is It True Or Not ? How Is Air Baltic Reliable ? Cause I Read Few Monts Ago That They Were Spending Not Good Time. How Are The Prospects For Captain ? Thanks
Yeah after I sent them all the documents they requested, they replied to me saying I was in a stby. pool and that they would contact me when a Q400 FO position becomes available. Then, about three weeks later they invited me to an assessment day. They offered me loads of possible assessment dates, the closest is on 24/02, in March they mentioned 12 possible dates. I dunno if that means they have people scheduled for all those dates, if so, again, it's gonna be survival of the fittest! Good luck to you.
Aquafina, if all those dates are being offered for assessment and they're filled... I really do not understand anything The fact is that they are calling pilots from the pool, but not me or either other pilots that I personally know. Also It seems that there're pilots with part of the recruitment process unfinished like me I'm still missing the Psychological test, but every single time I called to Daiga and the emails that I received tell me that I'm in the pool awaiting for a vacant.
Does anyone have an idea about how many pilots are in the pool?
CHECHE, I don't know if they have people scheduled for all of the listed dates they specified to me in the email. Just to show you guys what it said exactly:

Yes they sent me my tickets already and I didn't have to pay for them, it's an airBaltic flight. I have no idea of the contract either, or the conditions there, my thinking is; go do the assessment and see how I get on then if I pass I can take a look at the contract/deal they offer and make up my mind.
TruePilot,
I know nothing of the assessment day itself, just what they sent me and what I've read here.
Whilst nobody want to pay for a TR, particularly when the salary at the end is. . . . how to be polite? not earth shattering, the Q400 is one of the few Turboprops that seem to feature frequently in overseas contract jobs via agencies. 9Grand isnt much for a new rating, short term, it gets you a job, medium to long term it could be your passport to other places should you desire. Whilst I personally would not be overjoyed to shell out, at least the price is not bad. Of course airBaltic probably plan to finally get that Q400sim and do it in house, so it should indeed be offered at a reasonable price if not contracted out . Or maybe they got a bunch of ratings thrown in with the airframes and it is cash in hand, does that really matter? no, what matters is what is best for your current and future prospects of course.
