Are You Kidding?
How can anyone give the command "Brace X 3" if this is not a planned crash landing.
Stay on course report on the facts don't speculate

Properly trained Flight Attendants will initiate brace commands when cabin conditions present; with or without said signals from the F/D.
Stay on course, report the facts?!
Go away.

A posting in The Nation regarding the crash and investigation, referring only to material the DCA has admitted to.
If you think its fair, please share it.

crash report
(I should have posted this information a while ago, please forgive my delay)
In an interview with a reporter from a major US newspaper, the Director of Flight Standards in Thailand claims:
1) The DCA was told in July 2007 that Thailand's aviation was "seriously deficient". Obviously, no meaningful action was taken by the DCA.
2) According to this person, completed crash reports for the Surat Thani crash and the explosion (center fuel tank) in Bangkok exist but have never been made public.
3) The report for OG269 will not be completed until March 09 (despite all the BS claims by Withichai and Chiasak) and - he says - will be made public due to increased interest in this crash.
By the way, the DCA has given One-Two-Go permission to resume flights. (In reality, One-Two-Go has been illegally flying internationally Orient Thai routes Hong Kong to Bangkok since Oct.)

Being stuck in Thailand at the moment thanks to the political situation and getting increasingly desperate, I phoned OX reservations in BKK today looking for a seat to HKG.
The response was an unequivocal - 'Not operating'.

They're Back
From the Bangkok Post today. In the midst of all the confusion with the airports closed
Orient Thai has announced it will offer free flights for Thais left in Hong Kong to fly back to U-tapao today, it said. Thai passengers have to pay only the airport tax in Hong Kong, it added.
Orient Thai was allowed to resume flights on Nov 26 after a fatal accident on Phuket last year involving an aircraft from its sister airline, One-Two-Go. But it decided not to schedule flights until today when One-Two-Go was also to receive permission to resume operations.

In this new article about One-Two-Go starting operations to Chiang Mai and Phuket tomorrow, Udom is quoted saying he will "monitor the situation" after one week of operations and "if passengers seem confident" he will expand activities to other previous routes....

DMK 25 December
Waiting here for too long on Christmas day for a friend,I saw 170 plus PAX check-in for the One Two Go flight to HKT that day, then when that had gone, the check-in was busy with a flight of theirs going to CNX,so people have not been deterred from flying OG.That included plenty of farang(westerners).

Trouble is that it's all very well banging away on a forum like this but the people who are at risk are not contributors or readers.
How many of the people who boarded the flights Thaihawk observed actually read Pprune? How many of them would have been aware of the Phuket crash 2 years ago? How many of them really care when it's the low fares that made them decide to fly with 1-2-Go?
To keep this story alive you need the assistance of the regular press/media but for them it's all a non-story now so who is going to continue to use airtime or print space on it?
Udom's got his AOL back again. The circumstances under which that was allowed to happen are immaterial now.
Time to put the matter to rest I think.
Until the next time he kills a bunch of innocent folks.
Happy New Year.

How many know
I frequent a number of Thailand forums, as it's where I go for holidays. I have never seen this subject discussed on any of them. The level of corruption there has to be seen to be believed.
I'll send a PM to a couple of the admins and enquire if this is too touchy a subject for them. If it's OK will post a link over there.
