Couple of threads on here re Maun, Namibia, Zambia and so forth. Worth your while to take a look through those and decide how you're going to do it.

Why didn't you stay flying in Canada?
Huge opportunities there. And as part of the study visa, you are allowed to work there for two years if you work in the same field that you studied.
In my trip to Africa to find work, it cost me nearly 10k anyway by the time I paid for airfares and accommodation.

There is a lot of work in Africa yes. But there is a lot of pilots looking for it too.
If you had done your research on this forum you would realise that most countries in Southern Africa have a minimum hour rule now ranging from 300hrs to 1000hrs.

I also find it interesting... Are you only expecting to fly King Airs and C208s in Africa?

tried everything

i did my training from Winnipeg (sep 2007-april 2010) and tried getting work permit but guess what flight training isn't considered as collage or university nor its listed in list of university so no work permit. plus tried many operators none of them were ready to provide offer letter to get a work permit. by the time they started giving out open work permit i was already out of county so no chance in that one either. and other thing for king air's and 208 is that getting in airline over here is really tough u need to have deep pockets. but having some turbine experience put you ahead of others most small operators use B200 here but hardly few of them are operational.

check south Asia forums and you will come to know whole situation in India.

Contract work as an expat

Hello all,

I am looking to get into contract work with Balmoral, Solenta, or someone else based out of Johannesburg. I'm a British citizen, but with 3 years experience of African aviation. I'm pretty much looking to confirm if these companies do hire expats. I have about 3000 hours, and 100 on the BE20 if that makes any difference.

Cheers for your replies

Both Solenta, Balmoral employ expats. NAC also do as well.

Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia?

I was thinking about heading over to one of these three countries next week just for a few days knocking on doors, but can't find any good up to date info what the situation is like over there at the moment. Should I even bother with 220hrs TT and FI? Mainly looking for a SEP job.

Slightly unclear in my previous message, but I just got my CFI a few months ago, and I would only pay a hundred for the trip, which of course is pointless if it's completely impossible to get anything from there.

Kenya work permits are extremely difficult to obtain.
Uganda, from what I've heard there isn't much if you have less than 2k hours.

Angel Im looking to get a Piloting job in Africa or anywhere.

Hello Dears. I hope you all are doing great.

I got ICAO CPL/IR (Single Engine 200 hrs) + Flight Engineer in 2008.
I got a solid piloting knowledge and successfully I passed all airline exams (written, oral, simulator). Unfortunately because I belong to minorities I haven't been able to get a pilot job in my own country so far.
Right now I'm working in Africa as a flight following. But I'm not happy about the job at all. I love to fly.this is my dream.

My questions are:
1) Could you tell me and give me some idea about how can I get piloting job ???
(I know my CV and flying experience is not strong.)
2) Do you think is a good idea to send my CV to all air carriers???
3) Has any body got any link or list of the air carriers???
4) Could you tell me how I can get hired by some small air carrier to build a flight time???
5) Do you suggest me to convert my license from ICAO (SE) to EASA frozen ATPL ( I mean CPL/IR ME + MCC & JOC ) then apply for job in Africa ???
(as you know for working in Africa you don't need EASA/JAA).
6) What and where do you suggest for the place or school for license conversion ? I mean Europe, USA, or South Africa.?

Please if you have any idea or you know anyways, alternatives or persons to help me I will be really appreciate to let me know.
