It will begin after Winter Peak, so I am assuming it begins after Jan 15 2024.

I think in Europe it is primarily Wizz that is affected as most other neo operators went for the LEAP engines instead of PW.

enzino 29th November 2023 21:40

For example, Spirit in the US is one of the most affected operators.

Some aircraft are already grounded, the rest of the affected aircraft will be in a few weeks. And I think that the number we have is still only a preliminary figure. So, unless you're a captain, there won't be any big recruitment drive until they start making their plans for 2025.

Thank you both!

All companies with PW engines will be affected, big time.

Nine of the NEOs are already marked as being parked in Bydgoszcz, Poland so it's already started.

What’s the wizz contract like ?
Another low cost airline has clauses that allow you to be moved when they feel like or laid off whenever they feel like it , is Wizz any better ?

Nope, but eventually they’ll sack the FOPH as well to make it less dramatic.

Hello guys ! I have already read all the previous posts. Does anyone have any relevant information from inside? I passed the interview in September, but since then I have been waiting without any updates. Does anyone have any advice or information on what I can expect ? Experienced - Type Rated F/O.

All slowing down due to the engines issues.
I see no recruitment until spring next year, except for DECs or for a few experienced FOs (depends on how many FOs will have left the ship by march or so).
So far quiet a number are off to BA EZ LH AF.
Cadets will be swimming in the pool for long.

Dmitri 12th December 2023 09:01

FOs at some bases are being offered unpaid leaves. No shortage is expected.

I can see "Operation Bad Apples 2.0" coming soon...

dirk85 13th December 2023 12:41

First indications of redundancies coming for cabin crews in some bases. Not a great sign, given the precedents.

Whatever JV has to do to make his £100m bonus; that's the driving force of that disgusting enterprise

I am curious, what are these first indications of redundancies?

dirk85 14th December 2023 08:10

Cabin crew in a lot of bases have been straight up told there might be redundancies. Pilots are less affected, as the turnover is higher, with many people leaving on a regular basis, so freezing recruitment might be enough

snl13 14th December 2023 11:37

OK thank you

The way the share price is, he won’t be making it thank god.

Search on LinkedIn, there are a few UK recruitment skippers that will be happy to answer any queries for you.

when you say recruitment skippers , I don’t want the company line on things , more the reality - especially what’s in the contract

Chauderon 29th December 2023 16:30

Doesn't matter what's in the contract. It's a union busting outfit, as soon as the market changes your contract will change. You'll receive an email asking you to 'agree' with the changes, or lose your job.

Completely at odds with UK employment law.

Enjoy!

Hear! Hear! In Wizz your employment contract and your t&c-s are two completely different things. The latter is published in fancy magenta pdf-s and can be changed or entirely revoked overnight. Your contract, well it's as barebone as a contract gets, barely meeting what's required by law, but meeting it nevertheless, or at least i don't know any cases pending in any of His Majesty's Courts at the moment.

Not only in the UK.
Contracts are worthless everywhere.

Just been made aware that if you report fatigued at this ****show, you will be investigated. If the investigation deems that you weren’t fatigued (sleep scientists explain how that assessment works to me), then you go without pay. If it happens a second time, your employment effectively goes under review.

How on Earth does this airline still hold a certificate?

first hand experience or anecdotal ?

Alloy 17th January 2024 00:49

Only airline I know that bribes pilots with a payment to go into discretion. Morally to me this is a totally wrong and a conflict of interests.

Fist hand having read the new directive issued to crew members.

CAA, if by any chance you read this, may I suggest another audit to look into this?

Not only carrot, but stick. Crews have been fired for not accepting discretion.

Thats illegal , and they’d have a field day at an employment tribunal . Do you work for them ? I’m trying to work out this axe you are grinding
