Volotea
Hi
I am looking for information about Volotea. How is the roster like, what type of contract they have and how is the salary. cheers |
The salary is the worst I've seen since a long time!
|
Can you give more details?
|
Spanish will be a must too.

Volotea
Hey,
I'd like to have some info regarding this nice little company operating the B717. They are currently recruiting cadets, FOs and Capt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-nJveX6ppQ |
great!
can anyone tell me the price to get in ? thanks PS: i don't care about salary, I just want to fly... :E |
Perhaps good for enhancing your own flying skills as you gain experience, but the 717 is a useless type rating. No doubt Volotea is an interesting niche airline but an absolute bottom feeder for pay, etc. I think even Vueling pay better and at least you get an A320 type rating out of it if you going to go that route. The race to the bottom continues!
|
Don't know about salary but the B717 is a fantastic aircraft, jet and fully glass cockpit. Is the Dash8 better type rating? Is the A300 any better? What about the Fokker 100 or CRJ?
Anyways, if you want to join Emirates, do you think having an A320 or B737 rating will be better? Of course not. |
well I know some ex Ba cityflyers and ex Cityjet flying for Emirates and Qatar with no Airbus/Boeing hours, but anyways, the B717 is a Boeing aircraft, probably more modern than a B737-300/400.
Training at Emirates is simple: just learn by heart your SOPs and learn how to engage and disengage your Autopilot passing 100 feet AAL. ;) |
The Boeing 717 was designed by McDonnell Douglas as the MD95. It became a Boeing after the two manufacturers merged.
They only built 156 of them, and stopped building them about 2006. So basically .. it's not a Boeing, and it looks like a B717 rating would be of limited value. |
VOLOTEA
...age discrimination anyone?!? "Funny" restrictions for an European airline,to advertise it openly like that...
|
Emirates shorten the 777 training for 717 rated pilots.
|
I think this guy with a moustache on the video above was the head of training manager at Vueling.
|
How is the recruiting process?
|
Guys with B737 hours are likely to go to B777 with EK, airbus guys tend to go to A330/340/380. Just a matter of reducing the risk of failure during the training. |
It is not about type, it is about how much you can pay. :oh:
|
And how much are they charging for this 'job'?
|
that's what I asked since the begining but no one dares to say it I guess. :oh:
Actually, this is THE question. |
26000€ for the TR, and 900-1000€/monthly pay
|
I've had answers in private msg.
Expect: 800 hours a year Cadet 1500 euros a month Senior FO 3000 euros a month Capt 6000 euros a month Type rating half paid by the company the rest is deducted from initial salary during 2 years. |
Is that after tax?!?!
Even so :uhoh: |
Cadet works out at under £14,500 per year! That is just above the UK Minimum Wage and then you have to pay half your training costs back over 2 years!
Do they supply a tent to live in as well! And to think 20-30 years ago, being a commercial pilot was a highly revered profession! Good luck ATRISGREAT. |
The race to the bottom, led by bright eyed 20 years olds who just can't wait to fly a shiny jet, continues.

The race to the bottom, led by bright eyed 20 years olds who just can't wait to fly a shiny jet, continues. goodluck in this industry. In 5 years or so, it will be worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPSlj-OGjFI |
Do people actually get employed anymore on experience, character etc. Buying a job is pretty lame if you ask me. Yes, I know it's tough but to the paying passenger do we really have the right person up the front?

VOLOTEA
Hi all
I saw an advert on the internet today regarding FO recruitment at VOLOTEA (Capt also if applicable to you). The following is taken from their website.... If your aspiration is to fly a modern glass cockpit airplane in a high standard European based airline, we are offering you the opportunity to develop your professional career in a young and dynamic environment. Possibilities of promotion to a management, instructor or examiner role, based on merit and performance. Stability and quality of life: flights from base and returning to base with an average of 14 to 16 days of flying per month; possibility of commuting home: blocks of days working followed by blocks of days OFF. Currently bases in Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Palermo, Strasbourg, Verona and Asturias; more bases will be opened in the future in France, Italy, Spain and potentially other EU markets in the mid-term. Anybody with some info on what the place is like to work for and pay? The min hour reqs seem a bit high unless it's a 'super' package! Cheers |
Didnt know it was for Volotea. The ad in familiar aviation magazine which must remain nameless, didnt specify which airline it was for. However it did say that initial posts were for 737 with conversion to A320 at a later date.
|
it is for B717 initially. You have to pay for your own rating. You hava a job only 8 months per year. Rest of the year, you are on your own.
Cheers, a |
Joke!
They want you to contribute 5000 euros to type rating for a 717! :ugh:
A complete joke as are the terms and conditions! := := := |
Competitive salary ? I can immagine
|
Worst package around, in competition with Vueling.

Cheers, a You say it's for B717 initially? 'Apparently' there are multiple vacancies with multiple bases - for 717, 320, Capt/FO... the advert I was asking about was for A320. Here is the link to their website I viewed... http://www.volotea.com/en/recruiting/pilots/ If the advert for 320 pilots was true... surely you wouldn't have to pay for anything if you were already Type Rated. Anyway plenty of other places to consider if the place/pay etc is that bad. Thanks |
Hi,
Bananaman; Yes, my post was meant for NTR applicant. a |
What will happen with their current B717 pilots? Will they have to pay for an A320 rating due to fleet renewal eventually? My guess is that if the company gets new A319/320s, then Airbus Industries should normally train the pilots at no cost , it is normally the deal between aircraft manufaturers and airline companies.
|
TR
The airline will pay the Airbus type rating to every 717 pilot when they move to the Airbus fleet.
|
What's the deal with TR cost and roster?
I hear they want to open Vigo as next base. |
I read the conditions for CPT and they are very very low.
Basically you would net 5000 euros.... |
I watched a coverage on youtube about really pissed off passengers stuck in Ajaccio because the flight was cancelled due to a red nav light not working...I know it is a no go MEL item but any happy captain willing to help and give a good image to the company would not ground an aircraft out of base for that :=
|
What would you do? Acting against the MEL?
