I'd love to know what the current piloting community in EI think of that!?
Nothing surprises us anymore unfortunately. The union told them 18 months ago that we were going to be short of pilots and the company ignored them as they thought better. When the resignation letters flowed in and the guys left for BA, Virgin and the desert but the warning bells still didn't ring. We have spent the summer working a 5 on 1 off, 5 on 2 off roster. In that 5 days you can be going from middles to lates to earlies and vice versa. Lots of guys and gals calling in fatigued as a result.

The problem is management still think along civil service lines and ensure there are enough layers between them so that their heads aren't on the chopping block. I don't think there is actually anyone that has any responsibility for retention of flight deck crew. Quite amazing really.

I wouldn't get to excited about those contract jobs on offer. The experienced FO's that were hired back in for the summer recently were all ex AL (mainly captains but a few f/o's) who left on voluntary severance. As far as I know they were all contacted directly by the agencies and then word of mouth would have spread as you would expect. A 3rd party agency such as Storm or Parc is necessary to avoid a repeat of the €36m donation to the Revenue Commissioner.

They have spent the last 6 months turning really good candidates away for no good reason, and haven't filled all the seats.
Unfortunately for the people involved the training department thinks otherwise.

I see on the 'brookfield aviation' website(under 'client list' at the top of there main page).Aer lingus are mentioned as a company thats has dealt with them before or is dealing with them now

Sadly this virus is spreading to decent operators

Just home for a few days and saw the EI retro jet in the flesh. What a beauty?

Just wondering what happened the EI direct entry scheme from last year. Did people get hired or is it still going on etc.

I heared that sim checks were going on but I assume that's the cadet scheme. Are they doing hand eye coordination testing on cadets in the sim?

Coupled_To_Me 12th June 2013 18:42

I have heard rumours of an imminent Direct Entry Pilot recruitment campaign. Any insider care to comment/speculate?

Love_joy 12th June 2013 18:53

Unfortunately not an insider, but I did hear from one they are having something of a bumper year and that the Americans are starting to flow again.

So much so in fact, they are about to bring in a couple of 757's to fill some gaps. (wet lease?? I know very little...)

MCDU2 14th June 2013 10:00

It's on the AL website if you go search for it. Direct entry FOs.

Is there any insider information regarding the expected salary ?
I'm very interested in the NET amount one could get monthly.

Thanks

MCDU2 15th June 2013 18:50

Figures on ppjn look reasonably accurate. If you want net after tax then google an online Irish tax calculator. Expect to be shocked - the country is in recession and the middle classes are paying for the austerity measures.

Anyone else been sent a request to do the online tests? Very similar to those requested by easyJet recently.

Online tests

Hi all

Has anyone completed the online tests yet, any information appreciated.

Cheers

Mac72 17th June 2013 17:16

Just got the test. Will I need a special mouse or joystick? Can it be done in one sitting?

eaglesnest1972 17th June 2013 17:35

I applied but to news yet : (
Anyway, deadline is 10 july correct?

Aquafina1 17th June 2013 18:57

yeah i got email to do online tests, i submitted application form on sunday. im expecting them to be similar to the one i screwed up with easy in april! oh well, moan and moan for years about eu airlines not giving us non-rated folks a chance and now that they have i still can't manage to get a foot in the door!
stuck on little turboprops for ever i think! but i'll keep trying.
good luck to all.

hobnobanyone 17th June 2013 23:57

It would appear to be cut-e tests again.

I haven't had the nerve to open the link and have a look - and having been sifted out at an early stage as being "inept" by easyJet too, I'm almost a bit nervous about this one.

I'm guessing it's almost exactly the same tests though. Will have a look after a proper sleep!

bluk 18th June 2013 08:30

Hi guys!
I've done it already...
Yes, you need to have working mouse and keyboard
Every test is preceded by an example and an introduction where it is written what you need to do, have etc.
Good luck!

I-AINC 18th June 2013 10:28

The test is very similar to the EZY one.

I've encountered some difficulties in the math tests.

Good luck guys :ok:

PS: it takes almost 90 mins to complete. Take a Red Bull before :}

young1 18th June 2013 10:37

EZY Maths

Is the maths test the same format as EZY? i.e. ? x ?- ? = 115 and you have to select a number between 1 and 9 to fill the gaps and you can only use the no. once? :ugh:

I-AINC 18th June 2013 11:33

EZY maths was easier :uhoh:
