Topic?
Coming back onto topic. Have any B757 Pilots who went for interview been contacted by Jet2 be it a yes, no or maybe? I know this has been asked a few times, but only a few replies have been posted that have actually answered the question.
|
How many of these poistions will be for the EME base?
|
P-T,
...still waiting for an answer 2 months after interview for the 75. Bit of a joke really. WBW  |
PT
Heard recently a mate of mine was offered 757 F/O NCL, think his interview was Nov sometime. From what I know it's a permanent part time position. |
JET2 are still running interviews for B757 applicants throughout the rest of this month at least.
Various posts on the different threads ARE from JET2 pilots but they have their own in-house forums, where they can air their opinions privately, nevertheless a picture appears to be forming and its possible shape could be as follows: From posts here and other threads: 1. They had only about 3 crews for each B757 during 2009 summer.(B757's are under utilised in winter) 2. They are unlikely to type rate existing JET2 B757 crews for B767 (that's IF B767 acquisition is actioned) 3. There is no sign of any long haul programme for summer 2010. 4. There are indications that long haul destinations are planned for 2010-11 maybe with B767's. 5. The B757 recruitment has been long winded and undefined in contrast to the B737 recruitment. From the above, it could be said that JET2 did not know what they wanted for their B757 fleet other than to strengthen their crews for the summer of 2010. Now, it could be that they have a better idea of their proposed winter 2010-11 long haul programme and also perhaps they have a better indication that they may take on a B767 or possibly two, which would probably imply taking out one or two of their older B757's. They presently have 3 crews for each B757 and they have 9 B757's in the fleet, so they have about 27 crews. Assuming they want to increase the number by one crew for each airplane that means they need 9 FO's and 9 Captains. If they hire mostly B767 type rated crews with long haul experience, it covers their long haul projected programme for winter 2010-11, which is heavier on crewing than short haul, and ALSO covers their staffing needs for the summer 2010 on their present B757 fleet. This may not be a very useful post to anyone waiting to hear 'yes' or 'no' or 'maybe' after an interview but it may give an insight into the requirements of the company and an indication that they may prefer to have B767 type rated drivers witth long haul experience but not exclusively. It would be great if one of those very friendly JET2 employees would post some confirmations or contradictions on the above.......... In the meantime good luck to all! |
Thanks DD, useful info.
:ok: |
Puzzled by your point 2. "They are unlikely to type rate existing JET2 B757 crews for B767 (that's IF B767 acquisition is actioned)" - I know you compiled the list, where did you find this?
I did a 5 day differences course (all groundschool, and 2 sim sessions) to be ready for the 767 on my joint 757/767 TR. It could have been done in 4 days, included company indoctrination and ETOPS training too which would bring it down to 2 days. Don't really understand why something so simple would be barred from current 757 crews as it offers flexibility for crewing. As for jet2's hiring procedure, seems a bit amateur and haphazard. Timescales all over the shop and no doubt will involve the usual panic and fire-fighting that always seems to go hand in hand with charter airline recruitment. |
Sorry, point 2, meant to say that they are not doing any 767 type rating for their B757 crews at present, which indicates that there is no immediate likelihood of acquiring a B767 for this summer. This coupled to the absence of any long haul programme for the summer of 2010, would indicate possible B767 acquisition(s) for winter 2010-11. This would be upheld too by their recent advertisement for a General Manager, flight training, with long haul, wide body and ETOPs experience.

Djerbadevil,
Once a pilot is type rated on the B757 he/she is also type rated on the B767. Some companies don't even offer any B757/767 difference training. My difference training was 1 day of ground school including ETOPS training. Perhaps you are aware of all this but then your wording is incorrect...just mentioning it :ok: HF |
Has anybody been offered a 737 FO position? Is the selection still ongoing?
|
Highflyer
Technically you are correct that your 75/76 rating is the same thing but you will still have to complete a differences course which is usually one day in the classroom then a sim session. Your OPC/LPC will then alternate from the 75 sim to 76 sim providing you fly both types. (Well in the UK anyway) I was offered the 75 at LBA (I still fly the 76 and have ETOP's experience.) but turned it down because the money was so bad. I have a summer contract lined up elsewhere but if i hadn't i would have accepted it. HFS:ok: |
Have any 757 rated guys accepted a job/contract?
|
The guy I referred to in my last post has told me he is taking the job offer, not sure of the terms of his contract.
|
I've still not heard anything from Jet2, but I've accepted a contract elsewhere as all in all the deal and company are much better. Even though the contract is summer seasonal.
Good luck to those who haven't heard anything yet. |
I don't think you'll be alone there P-T. Jet2 will lose out here assuming they still need people, as those waiting will just accept jobs elsewhere.
I think I'll forget about this job now and move on elsewhere, I might even send in a PFO letter to them :} Well done Jet2, great PR :ok: |
Daddy-Oh! Congratulations:ok:Any offer in these times, whatever has been said on this string, is better than the dole.
Does the offer specify fleet and base and are the T and Cs as expected? |
Me too! Fingers crossed it will become full time....
Moose.... Yup, yup & yup! Good to see many of us Ex-GSMers getting work here and in the Sandpit!:ok: |
Well done.
Welcome! :D |
Thanks.
:ok: |
Which Fleet have you guys accepted a contract on 75 or 73?
|
B757/767.
:ok: |
So, can anyone tell me if Jet2 Have actually aquired any 767's yet, there are lots of rumours going around, but nothing concrete.....will they be Manchester based, and where will they be flying too.....thanks
|
No and the Bases for the 2x76 will be Manchester and Newcastle. Leeds has too many perf issues.
HFS:ok: |
Is it just me who hasn't had a yes or no yet since interview? Are Jet2 really still interviewing... still? :ugh:

I've not heard either way from Jet2.
Not exactly keeping to the "we'll let you know in 2 weeks" parting shot. Disappointed, I felt they were a good company and would have been good to work for. First impressions can be wrong. |
Interviewed beginning of November 09. Heard not a squeak since.
Don't care any more. |
Jet2; lost any respect I had, as they can't even be arsed to let the people know where they stand.
This industry has gone down the toilet, and I really couldn't give two  anymore. |
Guys,
I fully understand and sympathise with your frustrations. Jet2 have restructred most areas in-line with rapid growth, so much so, some departments are probably playing catch up. Not perfect, and not an excuse, but probably one of the reasons why a reply is taking so long - along with commercial requirements..... Hopefully when the dust settles and requirements etc are set in stone you will be told either way. If it's any concilation a new Air Crew Manager has been appointed who I'm sure will be dealing with this type of thing. It took me over 6 Months from Interview to starting, and that was a few years ago. Be patient, we are a great company to work for (in my opinion), not perfect, but show me a company that is. Good Luck:ok: |
Anticipation is the name of the game.
They must have known they would be inundated with applications in the present economic climate - and been prepared for it. It strikes me as being somewhat heartless to advertise in such a manner and then not have the courtesy to reply. Many pilots and their families are in dire straits and to ignore people just adds to the misery. KR FOK |
A friend of mine applied back in November 2009 - 4,000 hours including 1,200 on the B737-300 and NG and local to MAN.
He heard nothing so decided to update his online application in the hope that it might engender renewed interest on the part of Jet2.com. He was surprised to discover that his e-mail address was no longer recognised and his application apparently deleted. It seems Jet2.com have binned him off with not so much as a 'thank you for your application'. SITW :) |

Quote: Theres a pinky coloured 76 at EMA with a G-CE?? reg. I'm reliably informed that it's destined for Jet2 I don't think your B762 stands a chance, as the idea is to have two B763s The first JET2 B763 is the following: B767-328(ER) Registration PR-VAN from VARIG Any bets on the zecond one! :) |
I should imagine it will be an Ex-Varig sister aircraft. Jet2 need the commonality between the two.

Evening all,
You may or may not be right about what is going to Jet2. Could one of you informed chaps explain where they will be flying to and perhaps more importantly when? There are no L/Haul destinations for sale in winter 2010/11. I don't know what the lead in time is for selling these holidays but would imagine its not short. Invested interest...... Safe flying. |
Congratulations on your appointment! With the extra aircraft coming, the chances of a 100% contract looks good. Hope it works out for you and everyone else too.
Yes, an identical model would be the ideal situation but the B767-328(ER) is a rare bird. Only AF ordered them and only 6. They took 3 and did not take up 2, which went to Royal Brunei. The sixth one was never built and may never be built. As far as I can see there is only one about that may be available and VARIG doezn't have it. |

In the old days brochures for the winter season were issued in May, don't know what happens now. Today, with the Internet as the main source of supporting media, the long haul programme could come sooner than May or could be left for later. The other possibility, due again to the Internet, is that there could be a mid or late summer launch of a long haul programme if the market demand is there and there might well be enough time to sell it with a time gap of 3 to 4 months. One B763 is confirmed, so it won't be long arriving and now it would be a question of how soon the second B763 is acquired. In any case a long haul programme could be launched anytime once they have both airframes confirmed. No idea what destinations are planned but the logical ones are a combination of Carribean Islands, Florida and the Cruises. This represents a good concentration of resorts/attractions within a small area to get the variety to attract the punters and fill the planes. DD |
737 and 75/76 guys still looking - PM me and I'll give you contact details for something that might be of interest.....if you are willing to move that is...?
CP |
One B763 is confirmed, so it won't be long arriving and now it would be a question of how soon the second B763 is acquired. I heard that the MD's newsletter said something about applying for a 767 to be added to the Airlines AOC but I didn't know we've got one! Is this actually official and have we been informed about bases or routes or training etc.................? Appolgies for mentioning this on a recruitment thread. |
The rumour mill is running at full plelt about the B763, engineers on courses, etc.
Until I have a cup of coffee in the cup holder and am doing the walkround..........we'll wait and see!! :ok: |
The 767's are cancelled as of a couple of days ago. The guys who joined better get used to long Level 2s on the 757 with a bottle of Harrogate Spa for company.
Still, at least a summer job will keep the wolves from the door and hopefully the market will pick up! Good luck to the new starters. |
