I don't envy the long flights that the 757 does, but then again we do night RHO, CFU, HER, TFS etc on the FBW and the 757 does actually do AGP, ALC etc.

The main problem is the total hours per year done by different fleets.
The average is 600ish hrs in the company. I've done 800hrs per year since I started. This means that somebody is not going to work very much.

I did speak to one 757 FO last year who did know people who would bid to get on the FBW, but it was only to get the type rating so they could leave.

The pay deal essentially is:
4.6% backdated to april.
0.75% in Nov
Upto 2% on top of that for the lower F/O grades

Pension upto 12.5%. employee contributes 8.33%. Salary sacrifice to gain companies NI contribution.

Next year RPI + 1.5%

Year after that a starting point for negotiation of RPI and Flight pay introduced at 2.25 per flight hour captain. 1.50 for F/O

6 week rosters.

2 becoming 4 selectable block window protected days.

Days off over 2 years go's upto 10 in 28 with 2 flexi (sell back days)

Extra for trainers.

May have forgot stuff but it's basically what I've written.

FIS.

Hopefully with the change in management a new rostering system is a higher priority.

daveh767 15th September 2007 10:38

FIS,

Its 5.1% backdated to April, or at least mine is............

;);)

ExpectmorePayless 16th September 2007 11:30

FIS,

4.6% was the ground staff pay increase....you know those guys and gals who are on a lot less than us...but the ones to whom we complain and whine with increasing regularity :\

pay

field in sight mentioned a further 2% for lower grade F/O's, just wandered if anyone knew which F/O grades would get this and when.

thanks

You get it as your bond expires (ie year 3) in an attempt to disuade you from taking your rating and 2000 jet hours off to Virgin or BA. :=:)

Damn! I missed out! oh well, off down the strip to the Belagio:E

Jonny-no-stars 21st September 2007 17:25

You certainly left a the wrong time Monarch Man. We now have no cabin cleaning on alternate days (non at all in leap years), one noise generating headset between 50 of us, a new Ops Director who once knew someone who's second cousin had worked in a airline (although only on work experience) BUT and its a big but.....we now get desserts with our dinner and we've added MJV to the "network" to break up the AGP's!

Stick that in your 747/A340 and smoke it my friend! :p:p:p

A300

i have just been offered the A300. was wandering if anyone knew what i could expect if i go for it. got the new pay deal through in the post but there was nothing on allowances, any info would be appreciated and also how much the tax on the allowances are and how many duty hours i can expect on the A300.

thanks

ZeBedie 22nd September 2007 15:06

You'll do 450 hours a year and be first in the queue for the 787, since it will be a direct replacement for the 300.

Flying Torquewrench 22nd September 2007 15:27

Rymes,

Disregard the bit about being the first in the queue for the 787.

As of this moment it hasn't been decided how the company is going to crew the 787. Most likely it will be based on seniority, so in that case your one of the last in the queue. :E

Cuillin 22nd September 2007 15:58

"have just been offered the A300. was wandering if anyone knew what i could expect if i go for it."

Probably get most weekends off as it ends to go tech quite regularly on a Saturday/Sunday.

gunka 22nd September 2007 16:13

Take it, i would. You will do half the hours of the 320 guys but take home more cash as a fair proportion of your time will be spent on a beach. The 787 issue hasn't been decided yet but the very fact that the Co. haven't announced that it will be crewed on a fair seniority based system may very well imply that the 300 drivers will get first pick with the likely excuse along the lines of training costs. Makes sense financially if not for the purposes of harmony but when did that ever come into it anyway

Flying Torquewrench 22nd September 2007 17:00

The Co. hasn't decided yet how the 787 is going to be crewed. BALPA and the Co. will be meeting somewhere in the next few months to make a decision on this matter.

But management does believe they can't get away with not doing it on seniority. :D Which should be a fair system but we will have to wait till the final decision has been made.

A300

Is it only the A300 that they are crewing at the moment?

I'm in the pool for 757/A320/1 and was wondering if a call might come any time soon, anyone else waiting or had calls for these types already?

Easy Ryder 26th September 2007 12:56

The current rumour going around the flight deck is that there's only going to be 17 new hires this winter. Not the expected 40 odd........

Tight Seat 26th September 2007 13:25

17? Thats new to me. Are the two 321's not coming? The 300 has 10 places starting in Jan.

Easy Ryder 26th September 2007 14:15

Yup 2 new 321's and getting rid of 1 320.

Current feeling is its 'revenge' for the new pay deal..... current F/Os to work harder and also they may be banking on most of us selling our days off back to the co... who knows.

Its just a rumor.

Tight Seat 26th September 2007 15:31

Maybe all the spare capacity due to all of TJs 'ground breaking' routes stopping!

HmmmgoodOJ 26th September 2007 15:37

I won't expect a call then by the sound of it!

Best start fishing around again. :{
