From the other side of the fence.
Firstly, may I congratulate you all on your steely resolve and more than holding your own in a hard fought battle. After the best part of twenty years with Mon Engineering its great to finally see the management facing some stiff resistance.
Secondly, I wish to make a plea for your assistance in our own battle! As you are all well aware, Enginneerings pay negotiations are not going particularly well (no surprise there). So badly in fact that after the proposed offer of 4.2% accompanied by the loss of our paid lunch breaks (paid in order to ensure flexibility), I now find myself and most Line engineers facing a pay cut in the region of 700-1000 quid a year. Unfortunatly that equates to 700 pounds worth of effort that I will no longer be making. When One 0'clock rolls round I will be on my unpaid lunch break reguardless of how many broken aircraft are scattered across the ramp. For this reason I am requesting that you guys and girls please do not take our lack of co-operation personally and offer you support in any way you can. Many thanks. |
Thats fine chuzwuza. I would rather you take your time and make sure the job is done properly and that you are suitably refreshed so that you can concentrate on the engineering job. Last thing I want is an aircraft with problems in the air. Pretty certain all the crews (and the paying public) will support your cause.
|
Enjoy your lunch break Chuzwuza. Im sure all Pilots will understand your grievance. Its a shame the Cabin Crew didn't feel up for a fight.
|
Take your time on your lunchbreak.
On another note, i have yet to meet any cabin crew who actually said yes to their pay cut ? |
Chuzwuza, a few of us have worked out the financial cost to our pockets of this generous payoffer and came up with a figure of approximately £2000/yr. As you rightly say, it is the Line that is hit with the changes in t's and c's, more so than the hangar and office staff. They keep on chipping away................:D
|
Would anyone who is BHX based and happy to answer some questions be kind enough to PM me at some point
Thanks in advance. |
Chuzwuza,
Enjoy your lunchbreak. I am sure that you have full support from us up front.:ok: |
Am hearing that the Pilots and them there Management are talking to ACAS.
Will ACAS look to see if Monarch are paying the going rate or do they just tell them to not talk dirty?:suspect: |
The new offer with ACAS help is on the table. Need time to digest it, but initial impressions are it looks like sense is starting to prevail. Well done CC and Management.
|
Just had a quick peek, just shows what can be achieved with a bit of pressure. Well done everyone concerned.:ok:
|
Congratulations guys and gals!:ok:
Too bad that we have too many colleagues in the world of orange who have no fighting spirit at all! :* |
Obviousley 'negotiations' have gone well for the flight deck, now starts round two with the engineers........:ugh:
|
This has been an interesting thread. Is there anymore news to update it yet
|
The latest pilot pay offer went out to ballot yesterday, with a strong recommendation from the CC. Closing date is two weeks time, 31 Aug.
|
Pilot's pay offer has now been voted in but with a significant number of abstentions and no votes.
|
A little disingenuous, Alloy.
The actual number of papers returned was bloody high. Most of the time you can expect about a 55% return on pay ballots the latest one was significantly higher than that. The offer was accepted by an OVERWHELMING majority. |
Point taken Marko!
|
Too many guys voted yes , claiming that it was just ' dragging on too long '. :ugh: Numbers of papers returned may well have been higher than the average but were considerably less than those returned for our previous ballots, suggesting an unhealthy outbreak of apathy.
Not handled at all well by big Balpa, with two strike ballots interrupted by recommended offers before a true reflection of feeling was known. They were unsure if the first ballot was legal, as they met with management when it was still out to members and recommended an offer ! What are we paying BALPA subs for when they don't seem to know what they're doing ? There's no greater bargaining tool than an overwhelming vote to strike. A true reflection was never gained as a result. How dreadfully shabby. The popping of champagne corks must have been deafening at Prospect House when the result was known. The problems of roster disruption, wrong numbers at bases and some guys being flogged to death while others do considerably less flying still remains, and will NOT change. A missed opportunity. |
