I agree with Mark. All sorted out. Misunderstanding.:ok:

osbo - Mark recounted some advice a Captain once gave him -
"Look around the room, if you can't spot the tosser, it's probably you."

Maybe you should take it and think about it on your next trip to sunny Spain.:uhoh:

The big picture remains appreciating that Flybe is a good place to be, and is getting better all the time. You can be part of it, oryou can go elsewhere. It won't really matter to Flybe, but you owe it to yourselves to make a careful judgement and remember that no-one likes whingers.:=

There seems to be a recurring fear for ground staff I've spoken to at BHX that they'll end up back with a handling agent, which is fair enough considering that some probably started off as a CSA with a company like us (Servisair). Surely a monopoly at an airport the size of BRS can be broken with a new handling agent offering more jobs even if it's without the BA benefits.

Lite - As it stands, Servisair will have the monopoly at BRS once BACON go. As BIA handle >2m pax pa, they cannot stop any other GH agent coming in. I've had informal chats with some of the BIA management, and have been told unofficially that although some of the other GH companies have been in touch, they won't come in without having a couple of decent contracts, and the airlines there seem to want to stay with Servisair. Note my use of the words 'informal' and 'unofficially'. We don't have any more info than what is available on the BACON and Flybe websites, and we aren't even sure that Flybe will operate the BACON routes ex-BRS after March. Servisair (or any other GH company) may well need extra CS staff if there is extra business for them, and some of the current BACON CS staff are hoping this will be so. There is more of a fear that there will be no jobs, rather than a fear of working for Servisair. Most of the CS staff live locally, and would not be able to move to another airport, I guess it's the same at BHX. Personally, I started networking within an hour of getting the original announcement on 03Nov. I have a couple of verbal offers, one back at LHR with mainline BA, where I spent 20 years before coming to BRS, and another locally.

TLP,

I guess you must spend a lot of time looking around rooms forelornly.

Spain? WTF?

If anyone knows the identity of TLP, please feel free to PM me.

The Little Prince 26th November 2006 13:27

spelling!

er.....that's "FORLORNLY".

I think YOU may be better placed than I to tell us all about 'Susie'.:}

flyingbug 26th November 2006 15:37

Thumperdown, why does a thread that revolves around a potential take-over/merger, which is currently under review, associated pay and seniority, BALPA results, FLYBE/BACON management decisions, all of which are part of one of the largest take-overs in UK aviation history, not deserve to be in rumours and NEWS??!!!!

Please move this thread back to the correct R&N forum.

Thankyou,

FB

Fred Elliot 26th November 2006 15:57

I agree. This thread has already been moved away from R & N once and then put back because the move was judged erroneous.

If this isn't the biggest real news in the UK aviation industry for years, I can't imagine what is.

Please, please; back to Rumours and News.

Moving Threads

FB
Moving threads is not my responsibility - I just came across a copy of the 'rules' and posted them.:ok:
I was genuinely pleased that any posts which could be found offensive by others had been removed by those responsible so to do. Sorry if my post was in any way misleading.

"Dear Exployted Person, I think we is all behinds our CC, all they have to do is ask and they will receive.Unfortunatly I am often informed that I have no skills to take any where:8 "

Sorry been absent so much has passed etc.

Your quote above tells me my fears are right. Not doubting the CCs intent/will etc but "Your skills not required" is not good CRM.

This is an unusual situation & all skills should be considered. Why are they reluctant to have your help?

Captain Correlli 26th November 2006 16:28

So our own moderator doesn't know why the thread about the biggest news in UK commercial aviation is jumping back and forth from from one forum to another. Disgraceful! And all he can do is delete posts without telling us why and then say he knows nothing about it. Get a grip Thumper - I don't suppose you're BACON management by any chance?
Anyone heard anything more about the EDI setup? AOC, Ts and Cs, mainline pilots involved? Who is to be managing? What other routes out of LCY. There is too little information to make an informed decision, and my blood pressure is rising! I'm sure as usual our management cretins will send us a letter or make an announcement on Dec 24th or thereabouts.
I should have stayed in the Air Force, at least there our instructors knew quality, and chopped those who could not hack it - ARE YOU LISTENING HUTCHINGS??????:oh:

osbo 26th November 2006 16:36

CC

I think you'll find that deleted posts were probably consigned to the recycle bin by the authors.

As for moving the topic to another forum, my guess is that the mods wanted to get it out of the top level forum when it degenerated to the extent where a poster decided to make a personal attack on a named individual. IMHO that poster should have been dealt with severely.

I'll leave that poster to do a spell check for me, as is his forte.

A moderating manager! - definitely not.

Captain C
"Get a grip Thumper - I don't suppose you're BACON management by any chance?"

Your supposition is correct - I am definitely not BACON management - nor, can I asure you, am I a moderator.

The moderator of this thread is Jetdriver whoever he might be. Moderators are listed on the title page of each forum. Thumper is not a moderator, nor is he management - I can vouch for both of those facts.

RED WINGS 26th November 2006 20:30

I have a better idea why don’t we start a new thread about the proposed sale of BA connect, as for the last few pages of squabbling I don’t think I can remember what this thread is about. So come on lets have a thread with no bit(hing and try and have a constructive discussion!

GBALU53 26th November 2006 20:55

Should the new thred read the making of FLYBE Connect??

Fred Elliot 26th November 2006 21:19

Absolutely not.

Anything called 'connect' is, effectively, dead.

The Company is called Flybe. But bigger.

Go figure.

bermudatriangle 26th November 2006 23:08

The Flybe takeover of BA Connect will be a huge story,if indeed it happens.Nothing is as yet agreed and the whole discussion here may be totally irrelevant. The only fact as i understand it,is if Flybe do not takeover BA Connect, then Willie Walsh will close it down.Gesturing or true intention, none of us know, what astounds me is that we all seem to accept it as a done deal.I cannot believe that a takeover by Flybe would be to their advantage, neither do I believe that BA will rid itself completely of its regional business...what Willie Wash is playing at is as yet unclear, the sooner we all know the true gameplan the better.this is certainly not a game for those of who's livelihoods are at stake.

Tandemrotor 27th November 2006 16:46

neither do I believe that BA will rid itself completely of its regional business.
It isn't.

BA is NOT giving flybe, what it regards as BACON's 'crown jewels', the EDI-LCY operation, and it's major customer (for the moment at least!) the RBS.

Only an imbecile could fail to make money from that!

Mmmmm

biddedout 27th November 2006 21:23

What, you mean he and his little helpers are staying with the new operation. Blimey, it's doomed.

FLYBE couldn't and gave the route to Scot airways!!

Brs going, going

At yesterdays meeting at EXT, it appeared Brs was given a last minute partial reprieve, at least for the summer season.

Only 2 Emb145's to stay (with consequent reductions (or redeployments) in crew, hosties and engineers, all by 1st April ) operating routes which BA Connect haven't before.

After 1st April its' bye-bye redundancy payments 'cos we're all 'new starters' with Flybe, but at least current payscales will be 'red-ringed'.

I can do that,gissa job.......
