Yes there's wifi but there are so many other problems with the accommodation that good wifi can't make up for it.

I can't imagine that you'll find just one contractor who is happy here. Contractors are leaving in big numbers.

I really start to wonder about the people posting on here. Are you guys actually there? I've been there myself and spoke to pilots and they're not pessimistic at all about the job and conditions.

FO.Airbus 25th Oct 2017 15:08

In the posts I've written I know what I'm talking about and see it every day. What you have to consider is if you are a contractor or a local or on a local contract.

A special set of rules seems to rule for contractors.

Also the housing they offer is of a low standard and nothing is done about it.

Don't want to go in to details but there's a reason why people leave after a few months..

People always looking for something better as soon as they have joined but it is a paycheck...

Parc need to tell the Wow management that the current accomodation is unacceptable.
It was fairly 'average' 20 years ago when I used to stay there when in the military. I can't imagine it would be much better now - and then I was used to bad accommodation!

Do they do a contractors contract direct to your company?

chrispatrickGA 1st Apr 2018 19:05

hi guys can you give me some info about the latest recruitment process. Is it true that they focus on PM task and will assess only on this PM duty?

Dan Winterland 7th Apr 2018 11:27

The Ts and Cs are the same by the looks of it.

All excellent on the local contract, not sure about the Parc one but I'm not expecting too much from them

Sounds like he is trying to talk up the value of WOW in the hopes that someone will buy him out.

Has there been any further news about possible bases in Europe? There was talk of Dublin, possibly Stansted, Spain.

Any current updates on wow? Spoken to a few old colleagues and they seem to like it. Salaries seem to be amongst the best being offered compared to UK. Cold and wet but company seems to be young and forward thinking. Command upgrade with experience around a year. Is this bull****?

LHS320 26th Aug 2018 04:29

Mesh,
Upgrades are fairly rapid if you have the experience and like any airline as long you tick the right boxes.
Cold and wet? Summer is mild. Winter bloody cold with winds that cut your blood supply off. Winter flying challenging due to weather. The cost of living is expensive.

Really?! The pay I’ve seen from agencies is far away from “best being offered”.

1.1m ISK net average pm (no kids), an additional ~140k ISK into a pension fund of my choice and 36 weekdays of paid vacation per year with 5 consecutive requested off days pm on the local contract for a skipper is not too bad now, is it?

Thad Jarvis 26th Aug 2018 16:37

Not bad - that’s Easyjet part-time (75) money. The commute contract is nowhere near that though.

booze 26th Aug 2018 16:55

Last i heard from my mates at EZY that they are netting 7-8k EUR pm with a pension less than at WOW on full time as skippers...

Thad Jarvis 26th Aug 2018 20:48

Easy’s Pension isn’t good - 7% but when you add loyalty and perf bonuses in the overall package is a country mile better than the Wow ‘commute’ contract. The Icelandic local contract looks much better but I’d say permanent residence in Iceland would be an acquired taste for many given the climate. The Wow offering is miles ahead compared with the likes of SAS IRL, Wizz etc.
