Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the total flight pay equates to please per year or month in summer and month in winter? Any help is much appreciated

Pilot3103,
It was stated in an earlier part of this thread that crew are paid £9.00 per flying hour and £3.52 for FDA (with 0.86 of this untaxed). I'm not sure what Thomson's Part A states with regards to when a flight duty period commences? I believe it ends at chocks on. A further complexity that you may encounter when trying to calculate predicted take home is that flight pay increases by a particular factor depending on the time of duty ie flying through the night into the morning etc. Again someone from TOM was kind enough to disclose this information in the early part of this thread. I remember reading that average hours for a permanent full time employee were in the region of 700 per annum. This, in my opinion, will either be less on this deal or the same (you will simply work more during your two weeks on in the winter months). Summer appears to be full tilt, again a current TOM pilot suggested 90-93 hours per month. I'm pretty sure take home may vary from base to base, type of scheduling, roster pattern etc. Would be keen to know the type of pattern in the summer - 6/2 6/3 etc or is it more random? Does anyone commute from other parts of the UK? Ie B&B when on duty, return home for days off? Is this even economically feasible and/or does the roster pattern, especially during summer, allow it? Many thanks |
From page 2:-
"Duty Rig payment (effectively flying pay). This is around £9 per flying hour, but is uprated by 20% if you do a level 2, and 80% for those flying hours between 0100 and 0700 uk local. FDA. This is from report time until chocks on at the end of the day. It is £3.52 per hour, 86p of which is tax free. DC Pension, with 15% company contribution 42 days holidays pa Private Health for you and your family with no extra payments and no excess payable Paid unused standbys - about £40 for each 5 hours standby. Paid ground school allowances -£40 per day A holiday discount scheme that gets you between 40-70% of a Thomson group holiday pa depending on the price. 20 Requested Days Off pa Free Uniform, free car parking, Full meals and drinks while on flying duty Overtime scheme at £440 ish per day Carmen rostering !!! Pilot bonus scheme - paid at xmas, upto 2% salary depending on performance" |
I heard over 700 have applied 60 selected for interviews over 4 days for 25-35 jobs.
Good luck |
They have already selected and invited all the pilots needed?
Those who have not yet received a response can be considered excluded? |
4000+ hrs, mostly NG = PFO
|
not sure if letters have been sent out yet.
|
just out of interest, those with PFO letters re you in active employment elsewhere? If so where?
|
if they are sending letters of PFO to guys with 4000 NG time , there must be allot of very experienced people applying...?
|
I would say the opposite Boeing, cynical me says the less experienced guy is probably preferred.
@ bluebaron - I can assure you a PFO landed firmly in my inbox. |
^^ what makes you say that...?? I have 1k NG time so I welcome that comment ha
|
What format are the PFO's in? Email?
|
Also a PFO via email (3000hrs on 737 - no NG)
|
The info I had is that they were looking for a range of experience levels within the criteria laid down. If so and assuming the numbers quoted above are correct then with a slightly less than 1 in 10 chance I would humbly suggest that there will doubtless be guys with lots of experience who are disappointed and / or frustrated.
I was reliably informed that 170 applications were received in the first 24 hours that met all the requirements so the 700 quoted above may not be unreasonable. |
PFO
2700, mostly NG. Currently employed in the middle east. Would have been nice to come home !
|
Forgive me for asking. What is PFO?
