From the recruitment website:

DHL / EAT pilots must live in the vincinity of Leipzig. Scheduling of duties is such that commuting will be very difficult if not completely impossible.

EAM 18th Nov 2014 09:01

How can commuting be difficult if the roster is 7 on 7 off?
Simple as that, EAT roster is NOT 7on 7 off.
It is a flexible roster.

Gregi1977 20th Feb 2015 18:50

Can somebody tell me a typical roster for the 757 from DHL UK out of LEJ?
I would like to commut, 4 h by car, is that possible?

Thank you for every information

EAM 20th Feb 2015 20:17

To make it short. Yes you can commute by car within Germany very easily.
Where do you live? If there is a flight, you can even jumpseat.
There is no typical roster, on the flex roster you can get something like 5-6 days on and 3-5 days off, but as its says, its flexible.
After some time you can also go on the block roster, which is more or less 1 week on 1 week off.

Gregi1977 20th Feb 2015 21:17

Hi EAM,

Thank you for this information.
I am living in the vicinity of Düsseldorf.

EAM 21st Feb 2015 08:45

So you could jumpseat to Köln, a bit busy time to time, but generally no problem.

Gregi1977 26th Feb 2015 12:55

Hi EAM,

can you tell me something about the interview?
Will they do a technical quiz?

Thanks.

ddreamer 4th Feb 2016 00:54

I heard they are asking multiple-choice theory questions on the following matters:

Performance
Principle of flight
Meteorology
Reglementations

Can someone confirm?

I also wonder if they ask pure EASA ATPL questions (from the database ECQB0..), or if they have self-made questions. If someone has a feeling about that, feel free to comment ;)

Thanks a lot guys !

EAM 8th Feb 2016 07:52

EAT does have ATPL questions, group exercise, etc, DHK only has an interview and a SIM.

Resuming this post after months and hope as understood that we are speaking about Dhl AIR UK.
As per contract this are the new basics:

Base £32,141 Fixed
Year 1 £37,882 Fixed
Year 2 £43,621 Fixed
Year 3 Join Type Rated at Year 3 - £60,955 (2016/17)

What I want to understand, base is £32,141 and then after 1 year will be £37,882? or what ???
Cause year One is £37,882 so I don't understand why this £32,141 above?
And in year 3 is £60,955, again what doeas it mean "join Type rated at year 3"????

-So at the end of the month what is the average net income, after german social charges, and taxes!

-It is useful to be bond for 3 years for a 757 nowadays?

THanks for any help&Suggestion you may have.

deltahotel 29th Oct 2016 12:15

So this will be for a LEP joiner. You join on the Base salary, after one year it goes up to the year 1 level, after 2 years to the year 2 level etc.

After 3 years you join the main incremental pay scale.

Can't answer any of your other questions about income or the bond I'm afraid.

You don't say what nationality you are or where you live.

hope this helps

Reveal1 29th Oct 2016 12:18

So as I understood , for year 1 fixed will be as per above, thanks!

deltahotel 29th Oct 2016 18:08

Low Experience Pilot

Reveal1 29th Oct 2016 18:13

deltahotel,
I have 1200 TT approx, 800 Jet over 40T, and in DHL AIR you'll be leaving n Leipzig, paying your social charges and taxes in Germany, so I asked about the average net income someone should expect.
Applied many years ago when I was really starving and now that I'm still flying and building time, I get the call! maybe not right time, as in 3 months I could join with the 1500 TT as FO NTR!!!!

Are you in DHL AIR Uk? or Applied=?

deltahotel 29th Oct 2016 18:20

Ok. Would you be prepared to relocate to Lej? I can't offer any advice on whether to hang on for a while because I'm not involved in the recruitment process so don't know what demographic they are looking for. What sort of aviation are you in at the moment? Worth leaving?

Good luck whatever you decide, other than to say it's not a bad job to have. Personal opinion.

Reveal1 29th Oct 2016 19:36

Sure!
I love flying and is a life stile for me, and on top of that I've always dreamt to be in the cargo, and to fly during night...taugh maybe but is what i like.
I'm leaving close to Germany, as I know LEJ is not so "happy" place, I've been in worst places before.
Then I think I will not have any problem to relocate and to start a new adventure over there and maybe in my days off to focus in some other project, maybe learn this taugh language!!!
Anyway if you have any tips or advice for the sleection please let me now.
thanks!

EAM 29th Oct 2016 20:01

With your experience in don't think you will start as a LEP but as a FO, but I don't know the exact requirements for that.
You will pay social security in Germany but you don't need to pay tax in Germany if you don't live here.
I don't live in Leipzig, but it is a very nice City to live.

Reveal1 30th Oct 2016 10:11

but I don't know the exact requirements for that.
As per DHL AIR UK requirement;
-non type rated Cadets: ATPL Frozen
-Non type rated FO: 1500 TT with 500 on a/c over 40T
-Type rated FO : 1500 TT
-Capt. as required

EAM 30th Oct 2016 12:21

Are you currently flying? Then you will easily make the requirements for FO as it will take a while before you will start, in case you are successful.

Reveal1 30th Oct 2016 14:29

yeah I'm fying in the 738 but not in a low cost career:p , so very low hours in these months for now..but hopefully reach the minimums and in any case I hope if joining as cadet, to not wait 3 years for payment raise etc.

By the way anybody knows the updated long haul destination from LEJ?
What about the LEP, they will fly overseas?
