If only they had a pool of pilots who meet the Virgin standard. Oh, wait...

Well if

- it floats you're boat &
- you have a 787 rating &
- you think you will meet the standard

have a pop !!!

one day soon 26th Jan 2016 13:39

BigBad I'll think you'll find he did have a 'pop' a couple of years ago and is still floating around the holdpool like quite a few of us!

Thad Jarvis 26th Jan 2016 16:56

For the life of me I don't know why they just didn't pull the plug on that pool. 20 guys were in there and after 6 months VS decided they didn't want for whatever reason. There can't be any of them left surely. Of the ones I know, they all got other jobs, withdrew their interest or both. Since then they've hired a load of 787 Deps thus knocking potential commands back by at least 2 years. They're about to hire more type rated guys. Not a great way to treat people... Even if there are only a few of them left

Bigbus330 28th Jan 2016 15:01

How does "hiring a load of 787 Deps" knock back potential commands by 2 years?

Thad Jarvis 28th Jan 2016 19:38

It knocks back any commands the hold pool would've got going forward as the rated 787 guys will be above them on the seniority list.

BIGBAD 28th Jan 2016 22:56

Its pie in the sky until you're on the seniority list.

Bigbus330 29th Jan 2016 10:42

Absolutely! :)

Thad Jarvis 29th Jan 2016 13:46

That was my point. Even the order of selection from a hold pool can have a significant effect on time to command. Pushing rated DEPs in front makes it worse.. Not that HR departments care these days anyway.

VJW 29th Jan 2016 16:38

Why would they, as a swimmer you aren't an employee yet.

prisoner24601 6th Feb 2016 09:48

I'm 777 rated and my application went in on 27th December. Not heard a dicky bird yet.

andymiff 9th Feb 2016 06:38

I'm 777 too. Had an email saying they only want 78 rated for now.

ChaseIt 16th Feb 2016 07:38

They have pushed back the closing date again... Could have done the type rating by now... How long until they bite the bullet and look at recruiting NTR people I wonder, even if they promote internally and offer NTR to other types...

StopStart 16th Feb 2016 18:22

Notwithstanding everyone's enthusiasm and availability to start tomorrow, the fact remains, as explained a couple of times now, that there physically isn't the spare capacity in the training system to train NTR newcomers AND internal fleet transfers. The queue for internal transfers is rather long at the moment.

Training of new crews continues from internal sources whilst the recruitment is to augment the line numbers with minimal training burden. The next step I imagine, if not enough 787 rated people were to come forward, would be to take on 777 rated people for whom a relatively quick CCQ would be a easier win than a full rating course. In that instance, one could perhaps get 4 or 5 CCQs done for the "price of" one or two new full TRs.

I've been in the holding pool for Virgin since February 1992.

I am guessing they have changed their requirements since then. :)

Hi guys,

I've done a search and found a few rosters along the way, some dated and some more recent. However, is there anyone who could shed light on an A330 roster for a typical month? PM also works if you prefer.

cessnapete 24th Mar 2016 12:57

Sample A330 F/O last month, 5 atlantic crossings and a sim.

cessnapete 24th Mar 2016 13:00

A 330 F/O last month. 5 Atlantic crossings and a sim. Reportedly quite a few reported sick due fatigue.

FlyAwayUK 24th Mar 2016 18:36

Can anybody confirm the above?

What would that leave days off per month at (excluding leave)

Shanwick Shanwick 25th Mar 2016 09:04

Just looking at the Master Roster for April.

Five trips isn't usual although there are a few lines like that. Keep in mind that with a 750 hour contract that work rate can't be sustained long-term.

The workload at the Manchester base looks to be lighter than in London.

Or, in fact, not.
