The interview that CorrectSensing I'm sure is referring to is the external recruitment campaign of cSept2017 - I also 'threw' in an application myself for this recruitment.... the point being they've just done a round of external recruitment - it's neither Hold pool or Monarch just a backlog of applications that got thrown by the wayside when Monarch went under.
Who knows what the growth is like going forwards however. |
Any truth to the rumour VS pilots are now going to start working to contractual 900 hours a year? |

No to 900 hours and no to redundancies
|

Disproportionate hard work for those A340 qualified apparently. 3 East Coast and 2 West Coast in a month for example, combined with continual roster instability, mainly due ongoing B787 woes. 900 hours or not, that level of work cannot be sustained. Much easier if you can avoid an 340 Course. Less work for those only A330 qualified, and plenty of time in the Carribean. (Although a common Type Rating, many pilots are not dual qualified) |
any idea when 320 type rated might open up?

Virgin Atlantic Interview
Hi everyone,
Just wondering what the process is for a Virgin Atlantic Interview Direct Entry. Has anyone been in the recent recruitment rounds? What kind of questions came up? I know this has been asked in the last few years, but just wondering if there are any more recent interview questions. Thanks in advance. |
Is there any update to VS recruiting? I see 787 recruiting was opened up for a few days recently. Are there any plans to open up Airbus again? Thanks.

Hi Guys ! been in the background for a while reading the various threads of BA v Virgin , I’m currently in BA on the 787 and tbh I can’t stand it . Does anyone know when Virgin will open up 787 recruitment? Also I know that quite a few have gone BA to Virgin so is there anyone willing to give an honest opinion . Feel free to PM if you don’t want to go public cheers boys and gals You can’t use the Private Messaging system, add url links or images until you have an established posting history. |

Unfortunately for me that is the case , I’m just fed up with BAs icy corporate atmosphere and the fact that I have never felt more of a number in a company . It’s still a great place to work etc.... but it’s just not for me and I’m willing to give up 6 years seniority for it |
We have had a few Ex BA guys join us recently , you are not alone in your views it seems !
|
Was it ever true that VS hired you on the basis of what squadron you came from? Seems a bit far fetched

All BA pilots have access to who’s left/leaving the company. There aren’t many at all and mostly those who do are retirements. Those who protest about BA and all those who are leaving are exaggerating and only kidding themselves. I hear VS are looking for 787 DEPs so perhaps in a few months hundreds upon hundreds of people will flock to pastures new. |

You don’t have to be particularly good to get into VA. However, as always, its who you know. Squadron leader or Ex ‘ Arrows? Yep you can come & have a jolly good time ‘ ole chap. As for standards, anything you seek to attain is down to you. If mediocre is the standard you set yourself then crack on; just do it safely. Ideally though the recruitment system would weed out The Seekers of Medocrity at the CV sifting stage. Sadly that isn’t always the case. Anyway, you go careful with the condiments you’re having with those chips of yours; they seem to be making you salty.... |
I always knew that VS heavily recruited ex forces guys but I believe that was a few years ago . If anyone who works at virgin could give an honest opinion about the work life balance and security (which I assume tied in with Delta isn’t a worry anymore) that would be marvellous! Regards |

I know of 5 people in Ba with applications in with VS - there are almost certainly more - I know of one guy came from Ryanair for LH at BA and went back to Ryanair-- Easy are also / have also taken some. I may be one of them very soon for all the reasons stated above.

Out of about 1000 pilots I would hazard a guess and say about 200 are ex military which isn’t a lot really. In terms of lifestyle and security etc... nothing much has changed in the twenty years I have been here. Still 750 hours/good pension/PHI/loss of licence/staff travel although the Airbus has been getting hammered for the past 18 months with 5 three day eastern seaboards the norm. That said the 747 was like that for many years. Everything goes round in circles over time and the arrival of the 350 will change things up. And before you ask, I have no idea how mixed fleet etc.. will work, and not sure management does completely. As for job security people have been banging on about it for 34 years and we are still here |

I reckon Virgin will be fine , I assume it’s within Deltas interest for Virgin to run a loss on the bottom line so that they can offset there colossal profits ! Also I have heard that the Americans like the Virgin brand much more than the icy cold US carriers (BA comes to mind) hmmm not much to think about really , just waiting for that job alert email ( that’s if I make it through the selection) |
I've only done a handful of VA flights but was always surprised by how many American passports and accents I've heard at the gate and on board. Maybe this is down to Delta's influence, code sharing etc, but shows at least they have feed from both sides of the pond. I have always found the on board service preferable to BA.

Hello all! First post on this website, so please be gentle with me :uhoh: I managed to pass the selection and have been offered a place in the holding pool. Start date to be offered in relation to recruitment plans for Summer 2019. Anyone else receive similar news?
And if so, are you able to enlighten me with your thoughts? It took me 6 months from being offered an interview to actually being interviewed, so I won't be holding my breath. More than happy to wait though :ok: |
Massive recruitment bubble coming! shouldn't be long!!
|
Hi all, having been lucky enough to get into the holdpool does anyone have a heads up as to how long people are swimming at the moment?
|
Courses start in January teabag. |
Amazing! Thank you
|
great news! anyone in the boeing holdpool got a course date yet? |
I'm in the airbus holding pool but I've heard rumours that they may offer some of us boeing if they really need 78 guys. Hoping for a start date for Jan or Feb. We'll see I guess. :ok:
|
Hello fellow swimmers,
has anybody been plucked out of the holdpool this week? I was hoping to receive news by end of today regarding filling courses in January. It's looking like it may well be small window with submitting 3 months notice with my current employer if courses are indeed scheduled for January as I am led to believe. |
What’s the deal with the pay deal at Virgin ? I heard it was 4% or something last year and it’s going up again ? Anyone have any insight? Cheers |
Risky Bis Year 1 F/O starts on £74000 and rises through 16 increments to £101000 Year 1 Capt starts on £121000 and rises through 14 increments to £163000 Plus extra working/overtime/day off payments etc for those that way inclined Might be wrong but think current deal runs until Autumn 2019 |

Any news on further recruitment? |
Me and a mate who interviewed on the same day back in August were told a starting date for Feb. Then they emailed again saying it'll be March with more information to follow. As of yet haven't received an official date or any more news. Anyone else?
|
Were you part of 787 TR campaign ?
