Never mind, their loss
Would you recruit, you? NCA etc. are likely to look at your profile as part of their recruitment process.

"I have not heard anything either, hopefully whatever the outcome they let people know, I guess with BA recruitment drive they are not in any rush."

Not sure how many will jump ship from VAA to BA? I would think the main loosers will be EZ J2 and the other couple of charter outfits.
Expect a surge from the middle east to BA. However for £54000 basic , £12000 allowances n a bit of other stuff so £70000.
After tax £4000/ month .
Its a lifestyle airline but on that money , for the tax free brigade, its a severe pay cut .

Cliff Secord 1st Dec 2015 13:31

Would people leave VS for BA? I can understand the long term job security maybe perceived to be better with BA, but other than that I'd be suprised. Any VS people I've come across seem pretty happy with their lot. Suppose if you're fed up with long haul..

AFA 1st Dec 2015 23:10

History would suggest no, they won't.
In fact, in the last 12yrs I'm aware of one person that left to BA and of several who have come in the other direction.

Just a point of correction if I may: £70k basic (incl salaried 750 flying hours) plus allowances of approx USD12k pa. Approx £4300 a month, before pension, plus allowances. You'd be surprised at quite how many people are looking to leave the Middle East...

How many times are you counting allowances?:}
Pretty sure BA aren't a 750hr salaried airline either?

StopStart 4th Dec 2015 13:56

:E Completely misread the post.... Thought he'd said VS. I'll cut along and fetch my coat 😂

No worries. Just glad it wasn't me for a change :)

DDobinpilot 8th Dec 2015 13:19

Anyone have any idea how many pilots Virgin Atlantic are actually looking for?

nick14 8th Dec 2015 13:24

I heard up to 30 but it was just hearsay.

The Crew 8th Dec 2015 13:36

Mainly Voyger guys, all busting to leave the services and fly to serve ... To serve Sir Dickie :}

Thad Jarvis 10th Dec 2015 21:28

Interviewing 787 guys this week.... Apparently

Thad Jarvis 11th Dec 2015 10:21

No idea mate. I'm not VS but a friend was at their HQ a few days ago. Don't think the hold pool have heard anything since October either. I'd say in the new red dawn, the type rating is king.

Permafrost_ATPL 11th Dec 2015 11:25

Can confirm what Thad Jarvis says about the Hold Pool. Was told in October that I'll be re-interviewed for courses starting in Feb/March. Nothing since. Type rating appears to be king indeed. Oh well, BA gave me date :p

A320baby 16th Dec 2015 18:42

Does anyone think we will hear anything this side for Christmas?

nick14 16th Dec 2015 22:42

I think they will have had plenty of rated NLH guys to interview so I don't think there is much hope for us.

A320baby 17th Dec 2015 07:08

Ah, I applied as a rated 330 guy

Hi All,

Does anyone know and can provide any updated info on the what to expect at the VS interview for flight crew? Ive scaled through posts (like I'm sure many others have) and found only info from 2yrs previous.

Any suggestions/info or direction would be greatly appreciated

Interview Process

Hi all,

Anyone know/experienced the VS interview recently? Any updates on the process and what to expect would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

A320baby 17th Dec 2015 13:47

Have you been called for an interview Imol?

imol25 22nd Dec 2015 11:34

A320'

No I haven't but curious to know the breakdown of whats expected on the day? Anyone?

:ok:

The African Dude 22nd Dec 2015 22:58

Has anybody at all been contacted?

Eau de Boeing 23rd Dec 2015 01:55

Yes.

Airbus rated and current although flown Boeing in the past.
Have been in the pool for longer than I can remember and finally an email after October's interest to say they want 787 rated guys only for the foreseeable future.

A320baby 23rd Dec 2015 11:40

I got the same

MichaelOLearyGenius 23rd Dec 2015 12:05

Where they going to 787 rated pilots? Norwegian?

The African Dude 23rd Dec 2015 15:13

Ok yep. Same email today. Thanks and good luck to all for the next attempt, whenever that may be!

Lazydogg 23rd Dec 2015 15:19

POST 783: Yes. Nearly every 787 FO in Norwegian would have done some part of their initial line training with Virgin Atlantic captains that were on secondment in Norwegian. They were there to gain experience on the 787 and also offer their long haul experience to a then brand new long haul airline. There was a training agreement between the two airlines back in 2013/2014. The Norwegian 787 FOs and CCs will be a known quantity among a lot of Virgin trainers. With the exception of a few from the Middle East I would say the majority will be hopping across from Norwegian.

Manual Reversion 23rd Dec 2015 19:27

A lot of phone calls to Norwegian pilots from Janine
yesterday. I suspect not just wishing them 'Happy Christmas'

Shanwick Shanwick 24th Dec 2015 09:10

A lot of phone calls to Norwegian pilots from Janine
A few to BA Pilots too!

prisoner24601 24th Dec 2015 13:24

What about 777 rated? Has anyone heard?

Bigbus330 24th Dec 2015 15:00

Might be an opportunity for a quick upgrade for experienced, B787 type-rated VS effo's at Norwegian then? :ok:

Manual Reversion 24th Dec 2015 16:41

Can't think of a reason why anyone would want to leave VS for Norwegian, despite the pilots and cabin crew being a fantastic bunch

Mr Angry from Purley 24th Dec 2015 18:21

G-VOWS B787 delivery today by looks of it :D

zerotohero 24th Dec 2015 21:05

Currently left seat of a 737 and I am going on to there 747-400 fleet next year out of there manchester base.

Sadly only as a pax to Orlando with the family (I say sadly can't wait)

I did most of the work to apply to VS this time around after a couple of PFO's in the past then thought you know what sod it there only going to take rated guys.

Glad I saved some effort at least.

Never mind I have other dreams coming true

A320baby 25th Dec 2015 09:52

On a better note, Merry Christmas Virgin hopefuls

nick14 25th Dec 2015 18:48

787 rated recruitment open again. I guess they didn't get enough last round.

Flap62 29th Dec 2015 01:01

Zerotohero,

LHS 737?

There/their. See if you can work it out.

And some commas wouldn't go amiss.

zerotohero 29th Dec 2015 07:09

Nil further 29th Dec 2015 08:44

If I was petty I might point out that a sentence shouldn't start with "And".

....but I'm not.
