A380: no to both. Have seen this years add for rated folks, but also advised to reapply from said e-mail from jet2. Suspect it may be only for 73 qualified people this year.

Nearly Man 22nd Sep 2012 09:25

A 757 on the way for next year. Lord knows where Philip dug this one up from but it's on it's way.
Hopefully this means something for 757 guys out there?

Boeing Europe 22nd Sep 2012 12:29

Zenon looking for uk based 757 drivers thought it was Jet2

So 70% is 31,500 divided out over 12 months is 2625 per month gross but you sit on your ass for 5 months although you will get 2625 to do it, correct?

StopStart 23rd Sep 2012 22:18

Only if your year is 15 months long, yes. :hmm:

70% contract will work roughly 8.5 months with time off over the winter. I must admit I did think all contracts were 100% now with options being offered to take time off over the quieter winter months.

Ya disappointed it's back to the 70% thing again with jet2. Based my months on an earlier post stating the contract is April until October which as you said doesn't make sense as that's only 7 months as 70% of 12 is 8.4

binsleepen 23rd Sep 2012 23:13

Hi,

I was previously on a 70% contract with Jet2 and worked 1st Apr - 31st Oct i.e. 58% of the year for 70% of full time pay. Virtually all of us on 70% were offered full time contracts at the end of the first year.

Regards

Well, it's better to be working for a Brits who act like Stalin in the UK as opposed to working for Brits with pretensions to outdo Stalin and A Hitler in the UAE.
Once you get into Jet2 you'll find a really nice bunch.

Boeingmann 25th Sep 2012 09:33

Nearly Man;
Could it be that you are missing us?: You could always come back.:ok:

windshear-a-head 25th Sep 2012 11:29

Just wanted to know how rigid are they on the 300 hours in last 24 months, I still have a valid rating on the 73 with about 3.5k total on it (classis and NG mix), only I haven't flown it for about 2.5 years now as I've been on 'the bus'.

I realise they've swept up with the ex Baby drivers, can only think the rest are coming from Ryanair?

Yes, but two airframes are also leaving the fleet. The net loss of one airframe leaves a surplus of crew on the 757 fleet. All opportunity this year is for the 737.

The engineers told us recently that we have a 747 freighter coming, to be based at MAN, supporting Fowler Welsh. How we laughed!

Shockwave83 27th Sep 2012 08:08

Have any PFOs been sent out yet? I've heard nothing from my application (applied on the day the advert went up), I'd like to dare to dream no news might be good news but it's probably foolish to do so!

TTango 27th Sep 2012 10:29

BoeingEurope, there are a lot of FR guys that applied and are being offered interviews.

Nearly Man 27th Sep 2012 17:37

Boeingman, I do miss you lot, some more than others :}

Bluebaron 28th Sep 2012 13:46

Last I heard you oly get 50% (of 70%) pay until you complete final line check that took a friend of mine from march through to end of August. Also no crew food and only £2 an hour FTP. You pay £18000 up front for rating and are bonded for another £8000 for line training.

This is all last years info so do stand to be corrected.

That said there is nothing else around so read the thread along side this .... "so you wanted to be a pilot".

spider_man 28th Sep 2012 15:44

All 757 FO recruitment (if any) for next year is summer only through Zenon, as it was this year. No permanent contracts presently on offer.

There were no 70% contracts offered last year. It was 50% pay during training although there was recompense when it became clear Line Training was taking a long time. Line training did take a long time because of the workload on the the Line Trainers. There was a £23000 non-repayment bond (decreasing over three years). There were no "up front" payments. Some are on a repayment bond which is markedly smaller in real terms (about 55% smaller in fact). "FTP" is not £2 per hour, Duty Pay (for every hour - flying or not - away from home base) is £2.10 per hour. Sector pay is from £7 - £10 per sector.

You did get one thing right though. There is no free crew food. You can however buy discounted food off the trolley or, better still, bring some fruit with you. Chances are you won't die of starvation between Leeds & Barcelona. If, however, you do then rest assured there is something in one of the books on how the rest of us deal with your scrawny corpse in flight. :hmm:

Jet2 is a good, friendly company that is going places. It's also a nice place to work. The pay is pretty good and the contract is fair. I wish those applying the very best of luck. I would say, however, that for those applying, a bit of common sense, initiative and application will pay far more dividends than asking bone questions of the Pprune Illuminati....
