I love the story and find it good one to pass on:} No harm meant to the man. Actually I wish I had the balls to do the same thing. I've had my nail clippers, medical aviation scissors and forgotten water bottles etc confiscated by security. Would have been nice to see the experience on their face :E

Hi all,

I am considering Air Atlanta at the moment, as I want to avoid having to go to the ME if at all possible. But its decision time now, and not a whole lot seems to be happening here in Europe. Any guys currently working be able to answer a few questions?

The setup with regards the taxman in the UK seems a little dodgy. I did a check on HMRC website and from what I understand (which isn't much) I would not be recognised as being a self employed "supplier", as I do not control my hours, provide my own tools, etc. Theres about 14 points on their website that you have to be able to answer yes too, I think I managed 2. If any UK residents out there, how to do it?

Some of my former colleagues worked for them years ago. They all said they had a great time while out on the road. I know things have changed over the years, but whats it like at the moment? Is there enough work for the -400's?

Any constructive comments welcomed here or PM.

Thinking of joining AAI? Think long and hard. Unless you come from the 'rock' in the North Atlantic with all the volcanoes and your name ends in ...sson then you will be treated like a second class citizen. You will get a contract from Airborne in the UK who act as agents for AAI (supposedly independantly) which allows them to send you home at a moments notice on 'unpaid leave' if the work becomes scarce, you will get $45 per diem per day while your fellow crews from the 'rock' get about $250! You will be working in Jeddah - this has its own drawbacks and accommodation will be in a compound miles from anywhere in a small tin villa, although there is talk of a move to another compound where you will share a 2 bed apartment with whoever they choose. Think long and very hard before you decide on AAI and I would suggest a pm to Nippon1 for more information.:mad:

The 400 routes are ok,MNL,JKT,KUL,/HKG,RUH,JFK,IAH,BRU(freight).
You must be desperate if your only option is aai.
They just started linetraining new guys from excargo B.
Salary is rockbottom low.Straight fwd.Its up to you.At the moment its 5 400 out of Jeddah/Rihab,You will stay at Intercontinental in jed.Just a reminder.Dont pay any expenses.Its a hazzle to claim back.
Its ok to get current and fly away to greener pasture.

Do AAI hire Malaysian for cabin crew? does anyone knew bout these?

I see that AAI are now running a self-sponsored type-rating scheme for the 744, so I guess it's safe to assume they need more pilots?

How is life there at the moment, I guess that the 744 fleet is mostly operating out of JED?
