Well if you call "serious damage" no damage at all to the naked engineer's eye then you are right. Number crunchers' precaution, that's all. Don't forget it was allowed to fly home.
Getting back to the topic, basically if you have been given an interview you are 90% there, or here I should say.
Monarch also offer much better Loss of Licence cover (2 x basic rather than 1.3 x basic), Private Health Insurance (none at easy) and much better sick pay (12 months rather than 4.5 at best at easy). If you join on the A320 (most likely) you will probably fly the A330 within 5 years. 6 B787s on order, first in 2010.
The current pay offer to the troops is 4.6% backdated to April and 10 days off in 28 within 16 months plus a couple of percent in flying pay. Proposed DC pension changes also beat easy's hands down (12.5% cf 9% from the co). And the pay offer hasn't been accepted yet.
Don't assume the pay bars are permanent, and 2 sector days are the norm in Monarch, not 4 or 5.
If you like a home life and you get the base you want you will very likely enjoy yourself.

Except at EZ you get the 9% on the DC scheme regardless whether you contribute or not. Mon at the moment, you put in 8% to get the max from the co of 8%. Yay so much better. Rushed approach that offer is just on paper and doesnt actually exist so its probably best to compare apples with apples and not whats been offered to us.

EZ has a much more stable roster. Home everyday just like Mon. More annual leave per year. 5 days off annual leave = 12 days off with the wrap around rostored days off. Correct me if i'm wrong. At Mon 7 days leave gets you 9 off with a rostered day off tagged onto beginning and end. whoppee... And take home is £700-800/month more at EZ.

In rgds the 330, it may be an 'accountant precaution' as you say, but its still costing the co £2million odd (to quote a LGW engineer) to replace the main gear. I dont really see how whether the damage is visable to the naked eye or not warrants how serious it is. Microscopic hairline fractures (ie metal fatigue) have brought down a/c in the past as an example. I'd call that serious and it wasn't visable - till a big gaping hole appeared.

The eventual mix of SH and LH is about the only attractive thing MON has to offer.

Which is all seniority based, and given the almost total collapse of the long-haul flying resume'/portfolio, then even that has lost a lot of attractiveness.

If you're serious about your DC pension you need 25% total going in, so whilst easy do give something for nothing on this, in practice the reality is that to have 25% going in will cost you 16% at easy, 12.5% at Monarch even if the offered level is not improved.

Yes you can pay zero and get 9% at easy - you will then retire on a pension of peanuts.

Monarch average annual hours over a career probably 600 if that, easy 850 so you'll work 30% less and might actually live to enjoy your retirement.

And by the way the pay ballot is no surprise to me.

And the gear's insured.

Really? show the guys that the bars are going, and yeah two sector days to LXR, Sharm, Banjul mayby?, how about a night dalaman followed by a 6 hour taxi ride..and then the expectation of doing something similar 19 hours later? only to get a phonecall just as you wakeup at 5pm asking you delay your report for 6 hours so you now start at 2am.
600hrs a year of that is not a fair comparison with the big orange.

I totally agree! 600 hrs a year ? Not up in Manchester. Well I left Monarch for Easy and it was the best decision I ever made. I certainly don't mind four sector days especially with the crews I have the pleasure to work with and I could tell you what days off I have many months in advance. Plus the extra £500 to £700 a month extra keeps my spirits up.

I was based at LGW on the FBW fleet and loved every minute. Roster was stable, great crews and interesting routes. I worked on average 6 days a month in the winter and 12 in the summer all 2 sector days and very little positioning. Getting days off when I needed them was simple using their system, even for weekends and short time to command... not sure why I left!

Chug it's a very diffrerent company now I promise you! Good move.
