Full UK licence
Hello everyone!
I just had a look at the BA recruitment site and they are now asking for a "full UK issued JAA/CAA ATPL(F)". Probably a silly question, but does that mean that if your licence was issued, for example in belgium, that you are not compliant with the requirements? And on another level, do schools exist to prepare you to the BA assessment? Thank you all for the answers and good luck for those in the running ;-) |
wiseowl and atc83 the answers to your questions are already in this thread, if you even just go back 5-10 pages i'm sure you'll find them there.

Interview March 18th
Does anybody else have an interview booked for 18th March?
|
"so guys, whats the best way to apply?"
You could try carrier pigeon, or if that fails I have a monkey. :} www.britishairwaysjobs.com |
THX randomair. I guess I know what to do now ;-)

Just a quick qu on Numeracy.
Obviously one can expect basic arithmatic (+,-,x,/), area and ratios that you get in the examples BA send. Just wondering if you also get %, fraction and algebra qu's too. Thanks |
No algebra from what I can remember, but you do get percentages and fractions.
The examples BA send you are pretty much what to expect on the day at Braincrank. |
Anybody know how long before they are writing back to advise whether you are invited for selection or not?
I applied online about 10days a go and not heard back apart from the initial confirmation that application had been received thanks |
Thx LVLCHG :ok:

It took about 2-3 weeks to get an invite to cranebank from what I can remember...I'm sure you'll hear soon |
ATC83
Thanks, is that normally via email or snail mail? Just im living abroad so could be the reason for delay if they post it cheers |
Its through email Capt Toga.
Log into the BA recruitment site and check emails on there. I've had 2 emails not turn up but found a record of what they send in there. One last qu. Are they asking, in the interview, your opinion of the potential strike and/or the problems surrounding the pilot body and management in regards Open Skies? |
In my interview, they did ask me 'What challenges are British Airways facing both now and in the near future?'. I think that is an indirect way of asking you to mention Open Skies etc etc.
A really good website to look at is www.bashares.com. It has all the corporate information and business plans for the future, including what they aim to do in face of future challenges. LC |

They called me by telephone to say I was through, I assumed they did this with everyone? Once they told me I booked the sim there and then on the phone, a week later the sim confirmation details came through. I'm sure it wont be much longer |
Thanks LVLCHG,
Thats ok i can talk about Open Skies, just wanted to know if they put you on the spot to get your opinion on the current pilot discontent, and whether your for or against the strike etc. Bit unfair if they did! |
I think the best answer for that one is to state that you are not in a suitable position to answer since you are not employed by British Airways and have not been exposed to all the various factors that could persuade you to make an informed and calculated decision.
|
They never asked me a question to state my opinion for a strike, but that's just me, maybe some other people were? Mind you, this was all just kicking off when I went through selection, so it may be different now! I think it's a bit of a touchy subject to ask in an interview.....
The ineterviewers do their best not to put you on the spot with difficult questions, all their questions are clear cut, straight answer questions. Most of them are based on giving examples of certain scenarios as detailed in this thread. |
My apologies if my question has been asked before, but at the moment i can't go through the whole thread as i am in deep and dark Africa. Snail mail is quicker than the internet overhere. :ugh:
How does BA decide who goes on to a long haul fleet? I have got just over 3000 hrs TT with 1400 hrs A330 and 1500 hrs A320/A321. Would like to move over to BA and prefer the long haul fleet. Thanks. FT |
LVLCHG - They asked me that same question over a decade ago. I don't think it has anything to do with the current industrial strife, but they will expect you to know about the deregulation of the Atlantic market.

I am not entirely sure about who goes where - maybe someone within BA could answer this one better??? But I have heard the rumour that if you have over 2000TT then your chances of getting LongHaul are pretty high...think about it, out of the 239 pilots they need the majority are for long haul...if you already have 330 LH experience i'd say your chance is pretty high |
