I heard about more 737 courses going out as well, guess they're not contributors to the thread. Keep treading water:ok:

FLYBORIS 19th Nov 2011 11:04

Hey everyone. I've just jumped into the water and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who's posted such useful info in this thread that has undoubtedly contributed to my successful application. All the best to everyone else out there. Cheers.
(737 rated, 1st stage september, sim november)

2whites2reds 19th Nov 2011 12:06

Well done FLYBORIS and welcome to the pool. Been swimming since June - after yesterday's phonecalls to some of us, I'm beginning to think I can see the shore! 737 rating ...

backburner 24th Nov 2011 10:41

So does anyone think BA will open the selection doors in the near future, especially with BMI taking up the numbers needed over the next few years.

Would like to take (another!) shot at getting through!

ATP_Al 24th Nov 2011 14:48

I've just joined the pool too! 4500 hrs but no jet experience, interview Sept, sim Nov. Thanks to everyone who's posted on here, it's a really useful thread.

BugSpeed 27th Nov 2011 10:42

I have also just joined the pool; had the good news email on Wednesday. Interview was in Sept with sim in Nov.

c.4500Hrs total with a mix of regional jet and TP.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting / prepping.

ALLOW 27th Nov 2011 12:12

Me too, joined the pool on Wednesday. Did the sim check in Oct.
737 4000hrs.

Swimmers Contact List

Chaps and Chapesses,

Is it worthwhile putting together a "Hold Pool Email List"? (this will of course be seperate to PPRUNE)

I dont mind administering it.

If you want to be added, PM me for further info.

LHRbound 30th Nov 2011 03:08

I hope the water's warm!

I am pleased to say that I just joined the pool last week as well and couldn't be happier! I did the day 1 in August and day 2 in Nov. I have a couple of thousand on 737 and current with under 1000 on the 320.

I expect I will be going 320, so does anyone have any idea about the numbers in the pool, and what the likely wait will be?

Congratulations to all in the same position and good luck to all who are still going through.

YYZ_Instructor 30th Nov 2011 10:18

Welcome to the pool, the water is warm as there is many of us in here.
Grab a life jacket, you will need one! 320 swimmers in here from May.

Good luck!

With regards to the Capacity Test, I have the Cockpitweb, but it does not allow you to Combine all 3 parts of the test.

Shapes, Numbers and Moving Cross.

I saw a while back a company called www.pilottesting.info but there link seems to be down, anybody have any sugesstions.

Thanks

Fiesler02 30th Nov 2011 17:26

OMDB,
The Pilapt of pilotest web does, I am not sure if it looks the same as BA's one but definitely has the 3 annoying excercises all mixed together.:ugh:
since you brought up the Pilapt discussion again...anyone who can finally clear up how the 2 deviation bars work. I think we all agree the vertical works Anti ILS (i.e. dev bar to the right stick has to go left) way but what about the Horizontal one?
thanks

Kempus 30th Nov 2011 18:24

Pull the selective bar(s) in the direction to make a cross ie if the bar is to the left of the screen pull right. If at the top pull down.

Apt test

Thank you Kempus👍

hi guys sorry to change the topic, even though im still in flight school i was just wondering whether BA are stirct on ATPL exam marks and if they ask to see your grades during interview or if you have to declare them during the application process. Am i right in thinking that exam marks are only looked at when applying for your 1st job and that after its all about your flying hours?

many thanks

spider_man 2nd Dec 2011 07:26

No, if you have previous airline experience and are applying under Direct Entry, its an online tick in a box confirming you have a full or frozen ATPL. If seeking employment with a fresh licence, your flying school will assess your grades for recommendation and to be put forward (first time pass in all subjects, average above 90%?)

I've had 11 pilot interviews over the years including two for BA and was never asked about exam results.

BugSpeed 2nd Dec 2011 09:46

B - Bleach,

If the info from Cranebank is true (and in the current round of selection its not been too bad), then it should re-open in about March or April.

LHRbound 2nd Dec 2011 14:54

Hi Bugspeed,

You seem to have decent contacts. Congratulations on also getting the good news last week. To that end, do you have any idea of the length of wait we could be in for, or do you think courses are being accelerated next year?

I was hoping for a start date before next summer, I'm current on the 320 so expecting that although I have the longhaul hours......

Cheers

BugSpeed 2nd Dec 2011 18:43

Hi LHR,

Either good contacts or good blagging ;) lol.

Once again, if things are to be believed, course start dates for those interviewed in Sept will be c.July onwards.

Kempus 2nd Dec 2011 19:02

What about those still waiting since last spring? July would have me in the pool for more than a year and 20 months since my application.
