Having completed day 1 in August; yesterday I got an invite for a sim check in November! The machine keeps rolling :)

Fiesler02 21st Oct 2011 21:30

Bugspeed,
you are absolutely right but reading through the thread there is plenty of info's regarding day 1, little less about day 2, but couldn't find a lot about t&c's.
Like u said contract info shouldn't be my, or our, priority but I still think It's something interesting to get to know.

Regarding the day 1 and 2 I wish all the best to all the Guys n Girls who are going in Cranebank these days hoping they will share with us their experience just like the others have been doing so far.:ok:

Anyone heard no yet?

Good Luck...

Holdingpool...

As the end of October is coming I can only think that Airbus courses will have to be starting now anytime past January. Is the training that backed up still? Does anyone from the inside have any inside knowledge of A320 courses coming up for us swimming yet, or could this go on until summer 2012? :ugh: I know a few got called for the 767 starting Jan, but I would imagine the majority of us in the pool are A320 and 737 typed.....

Any news would be good news!

Cheers

4 months notice so I guess we must be up to end of Feb start of March 2012.

Sigh

Fat Dog 24th Oct 2011 14:25

Assessment day 2nd week of October, just found out got through, no sim slots available currently. Pleasantly surprised as didn't think it went that well.

Good luck to all.

Full Left Rudder 24th Oct 2011 14:25

My acceptance email said they would honour the industry standard 3 months notice. That not the standard email for everyone?

Kempus 24th Oct 2011 14:28

Yes standard 3 months but they like to give you 4 months notice if that make sense!

Full Left Rudder 24th Oct 2011 16:19

Fair enough. A friend only got 3 months and a few days though. So I see what you mean, but don't rule out February just yet. Maybe I am being too optimistic but it keeps me going!

alpha.charlie 24th Oct 2011 16:23

Got the good news today as well, day 1 assessment was same week as FatDog. No sim slots avail at the moment.

Best of luck to everyone :)

Hold Pool

Five months and still swimming....

Friend got the nod for the Bus (also around the 5 month mark in the pool) and only given 3 months notice. Expect min 3months notice, but i could be a bit more.

BA will probably pick those most suitable from the Hold Pool for the courses they have to fill. So it may not necessarily be first in first out...

Good luck to all...

no sponsor 25th Oct 2011 08:20

Latest I heard from the trainers is 22 people will join the 73 between Jan and end of March. 27 people in the hold pool are 737 rated.

I used Aptitude Test, FREE Example Tests, Online Aptitude Tests, Psychometric Tests, Online Psychometric Tests - AssessmentDay.co.uk for the verbal reasoning. 10 quid and hundreds of practice questions which follow the exact same format as BA.

pre3l2s 25th Oct 2011 08:47

no sponsor,

Do you know if these places have all been filled or are more to get phone calls from the hold pool who are 73 rated?

no sponsor 25th Oct 2011 11:44

I have no idea unfortunately, but 3-4 months prior to course dates sees to be the norm when people are notified.

holdpool

No sponsor .... so 27 are in the 737 pool and 22 will get courses, kind of makes me wonder what happens to the other 5....?
Will they join to fly other types? Will they have to keep swimming? Or worst case .... will they fall out of the pool and have to re-apply??

Callsign Kilo 25th Oct 2011 13:41

....by all accounts, BA are still assessing people with 737 ratings at the present time. From what has already been suggested on here, alongside what has been confirmed by other sources, BA wish to tie together their fleet requirements to those presently qualified on that particular type. And whilst it appears that the vast majority of recruitment will occur on the SH fleets; some DEPs have been taken directly to LH. Who says further direct entry opportunities on say the 744 or 777 aren't feasible? Those 737 bods with >2000hrs and an ATPL may end up elsewhere? There were some rumblings about such a possibility on this very site, straight from an insider source. I can also confirm that a recent associate of mine who attended day one recently confirmed that all fleets would be available to DEPs throughout 2012.

SmilingKnifed 26th Oct 2011 07:33

Well having been told a sim was unlikely before Christmas, I got a call yesterday and it's in less than 2 weeks!

Did anyone else get the same?

FOBiggles 26th Oct 2011 16:32

SmilingKnifed are you 75/76 rated? We were told on our recent 'day one' that anyone holding such a rating can expect an early call. For the rest, expect a call in the new year!

2 Whites 2 Reds 26th Oct 2011 16:44

Anyone heard when BA might re-open DEP application's?

SmilingKnifed 26th Oct 2011 21:16

Biggles,

Nope, I'm E195 rated. Cue wild speculation on aircraft orders!

For info my assessment was 13th September.
