Do you really think that BA will be employing as many pilots as they have predicted? Watch and decide:

757_Driver 26th Sep 2011 19:02

FFS Black and brown - we get it - you've got an issue with BA and like to snipe from the sidelines.
Anyway - as you clearly have so much more understanding of macro-economic issues than the rest of us then perhaps you can explain how any of this will seriously effect an airline based in a country outside of the Eurozone, a country with a resonable economy and manageble debt whos revenue primarily comes from flying long haul businessmen to all the other countries in the world who's economies are booming.
On the other hand if I was employed by the orange or blue and yellow mob flying cost concious people around europe I'd be quite worried right now.

BlackandBrown 26th Sep 2011 19:09

I simply asked a question and provided some information. What's with the full flight simulator abbreviation at the beginning of your post? I feel your reasoning is flawed and a nice example of confirmation bias.

Has BA stopped accepting DEP applications?

Hello chaps,
has BA stopped accepting DEP applications from civilian pilots? I wanted to apply today, but all I can find is the application for military pilots. If BA has shut the door to civilian applications, will they open it up again? I am really bummed out that I missed this opportunity.
Any insights?

BlackandBrown, we could easily ask how the announcement that Stelios is to set up a new airline will affect the current recruitment and future of Easyjet.

However, to explore such a massive and complex issue from a position of knowing only what the media tells us is completely pointless. Neither Carolyn McCall or Stelios knows the answer to that and they have all the 'facts'. We know zero and can only speculate, which as I said it totally pointless.

This is forum for rumours and facts, not idle speculation.

The DEP applications closed weeks ago. soz.

BlackandBrown 26th Sep 2011 19:56

I agree though I didn't speculate - 757driver speculated in his last posting. I will reiterate that I asked a question and provided a link to a professionals very honest and impressive opinion.

I really do hope that BA keep recruiting pilots. The more they do the better it is for every pilot.

Hi full left rudder,

where did you get this piece of info?

DoctorEcam 27th Sep 2011 04:16

PIGS is: Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain.

I do not consider my country a pig. All I was saying is that I come from a country where from the outside we are not seen as a very profesional place, regardless of this, I still got the job just like many other Europeans.
Well if someone believes that people coming from other european countries is less professional is not our problem.I worked with so many people coming from Uk and surroundings that i can guarantee you that no one is perfect believe me.If you are then talking about the snobbish attitude showed by pilots/people working for a national carrier or one of the so said big countries...last events show, again, that each country has its problems...just don't be such a big a:mad:e as they are
take care and enjoy Ba;)

DoctorEcam - we received an internal email from easyJet yesterday. It was also noted on several stock market websites. However, today it looks like it has hit the mainstream news -

there's **** all point continuing to contribute to this thread with people like B&B around. If anyone wants some CONSTRUCTIVE information on the BA recruitment process based on my own experiences then feel free to PM me.
In the mean time I'm off to speak to my 4 year old son, which should be a more mature conversation than most on here!

Is it possible to get a crew rate at the Jurys Inn?

B-HVY 27th Sep 2011 11:53

Yes. You need airline ID with you when you check in. When I went the rate was 37 GBP per night R.O.

Edited to add: it would be best if you phoned them a bit in advance so they can check availability as the rate is offered on an "available basis"

spaceman18 27th Sep 2011 13:57

The premier inn on the bath road is also very close by, and they do a crew rate for £45 if the jurys inn is full. Just phone them and ask for this rate, and they didnt even ask for an airline ID on check in as it was all automated.
Pretty reasonable hotel too.

Dihaz 27th Sep 2011 19:13

Hey All,

Did anybody else receive the GPI link today? Are you meant to register through that - they didn't provide a session number or login/password for the session?

Also the data processing questions in the practise leaflets were a nightmare, I don't see how you can do them without the calculator!

Cheers!

binsleepen 27th Sep 2011 20:31

Dihaz,

The GPI link is a pesonal link, click on it and follow the instructions.

As far as the maths questions go, follow the instructions on the 'DEP Candidate Briefing 2010' you were sent. It says:

Verbal and Numerical Tests
Practice leaflets, which explain more about these tests and give examples of the type of questions you will face, are also included with this briefing.

The verbal test examples are shown in the booklet entitled: Why are aptitude tests used? The numerical tests examples are in the Technical Test Battery - Practice Leaflet under Test 6 Numerical Reasoning. Please note that you must practice these without a calculator.
My bold. It is however wrong. It should say test 2. The test beginning with:

If 1,000 ball bearings cost £42.50, how much would 2,300 cost?

Black and Brown you may wish to validate your sources a little more thoroughly.

BBC financial expert Alessio Rastani: 'I'm an attention seeker not a trader' - Telegraph

I'm afraid the desperate ramblings of an attention seeking bulls**t artist hold little water. The guy in the video doesn't have the best credentials either ;)

In other news, does anyone have an update regarding sim dates?

BlackandBrown 28th Sep 2011 06:29

That is shocking! Typical BBC. Fair enough.

clearofconflict 28th Sep 2011 06:55

I rang them re sim dates a couple of days ago....and they said January! Which is a little frustrating but I'm happy to wait.....

londonmet 28th Sep 2011 06:58

Cleaofconflict,

When did you apply and do your day one?
