For the benefit of that ignorant fella up there: The United Arab Emirates has the highest number of foreign nationals in the world, per capita. Not Switzerland!

Back to the Point!
The point is that the foreign pilots are about to be ousted out of_Switzerland as useless pieces under flagrant discrimination__conditions not in pair with our times and with our society's basic principles of equal treatment .
The agreement, which is being presented for ratification to the General Assembly of the "Swiss Pilots Association" tonight (Friday the 8th of August), is only contended to confirm that those B permit holding foreign pilots will be getting 50.000 CHF instead of the 140.000 CHF for their Swiss colleagues, not to mention the overriding of the seniority rules for all of those pilots who_normally under their current seniority would not even be among the currently dismissed pilots.
"Swiss" is simply claiming that it can no longer employ them as their residence_permits have not been renewed_by the State and because of that their needs are been evaluated to practically one third of what their Swiss counterparts will be getting. Who is to blame for the_massive non renewal?
The company has always been taking care of this renewal paperwork, it also did so this time;_very little is known to the concerned pilots who did something and what wrong as if those highly qualified people have no needs and families who all moved to Switzerland some years ago_when required to help and_worked and paid taxes and social security and now are simply ousted.
"Swiss Intnl Airlines" appears to see there a good opportunity to save some thousands of francs and_simply_offers_ 50.000 CHF per person to those who are not even entitled to unemployment benefit (for which they have been contributing all these years) as they are "ordered to leave the country" From _its side _"Swiss Pilots" claims incapable to do something about it and everyone is washing their hands off.
THOSE ALREADY DISMISSED PILOTS ARE NOW SEEKING HELP FROM THE PUBLIC OPINION.
None wants to impose his presence nor wants to stay if it is not necessary_for the company or for himself_. Everyone though wants to be treated decently and_without discrimination for his race and origin_in accordance to the_rules and to the great humanitarian traditions of this country which no longer wishes_to_see repeated the _ousting incidents of the 40's.
Obviously_every_concerned and "ordered to leave" pilot _has his own drama or story to tell, and I herewith kindly request your_assistance on sensibilizing the public opinion and the Swiss management, if possible now that the agreement is going on its finalization stage.
We all believe that the company is in need of such an agreement for its survival, but_it can be done in a decent and non discriminating manner. I_am convinced that our public opinion would not want_the contrary...
Please send an email of protest to the Swiss Public Affair Dept and a copy to the CEO and COO at:

Expat treatment
Switzerland or Swiss companies do not have a monopoly on treating their expat workes like crap.
Another European example that comes to my mind off hand would be Spain and Swiftair and the way they conducted themselves in a similar issue. Total disrespect of contract as well as trying their utmost to screw the poor expat.
Then there is Africa and all the petty wannabes running their pathetic little one aircraft fly by night operations with illusions of grandeaur. Same thing there, expat get shafted. Don't like it, leave.
Have been reading the Middle-Eastern Forum lately ? Lot of posts about Qatar Airways. Same picture.

NOT
I do not see anything in my previous post where I actually condone actions taken by Swiss or the others.Nor do I defend them in any way. Just to repeat my words...
"Switzerland or Swiss companies do not have a monopoly on treating their expat workes like crap".
That should be clear even to the thickest Houtkop.
There will allways be companies that try their best to screw their employees, contract or not. What can employee do about that. Spread the word and try to avoid companies like that. Unfortunately it is not allways easy to do that, as one has to eat, and I have had my share of hardship.

When we're talking about racism and xenophobia excercised by various peoples around the world, it's not a very smart time to throw in racist South African slang references such as HOUTKOP! You simply place yourself in the same category as the rest of them!
The Official Version
This is the part that really burns: read HERE for what they tell the public and see just exactly how many BLATANT LIES you can count...!

Apologizes
Name Houtkop be stricken forever. Thought it was Dutch and meant wooden head ie dumb. Perhaps in your native language it has alternative meaning, in mine it does not. Still, one can keep twisting words. Personally I would rather not continue putting effort to this subject ad would get back on track.
If I recall correctly EVA Air let their expats go without too much finesse after 911. One could expect contract workers (Expat or not) to be the first group to made redundant regardless geographical location when a company needs to downsize.
