FlyBE
Anyone working at FlyBE, how is it working there?
salarie, off days, duty schedule, cheap flying, do they need type rated BAe146 pilots?, recruitment and selection process. Are you often back at FlyBE's base or are you a lot in hotels?
Thankz,
TASI

Unless youv'e nothing else up your sleeve......
DON'T DO IT !!
Every one is currently leaving for the land of Orange at the moment.
Not my cup of tea though. I'm currently awaiting something a little more civilsed and I think in this industry patience is a virtue.
I don't think that out of the frying pan into the fire is the way forward somehow.
Your Call.

Speak for your self Smokie - personally i'm quite happy working for Flybe !!! and i hope to be here a few more years yet.
There a much better lot to work for than those wearing Orange and 300% better to work for than M.O.L in DUB.
Flybe may not be perfect in every way shape and form and i know that they have their fault's - but they are definetly a lot better to work for than a lot of places - at least here you are treated as a person and not as a number - which goes a long way !!
Flybe are a very progressive airline and are not afraid to experiment and try thing's and if they dont work and dont produce the results then they are got rid off - much to some critics annoyance.
If you want more details on anything TASI - send me a PM.

Does anyone out there fly the Dash 8-400 for Flybe? How do you like it vs. other Dashers or the 146? Looks like a great airplane to fly.....

I've been working for Flybe for several years now, and sure I'm also sniffing around other carriers aswell, however I can assure you working for Flybe has been brilliant.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, its not the management that makes the airline what it is, its the people. Who can honestly say that they wake up at 4 am looking forward to going to work cos they know they are gonna have a good laugh. The other colleages are great to work with.
Sure Flybe has problems, name me a UK airline that doesn't.
At least my mortgage is being paid.
New entrants are more than likely to start on the turboprop fleet as it is ever expanding.
Starting salary not so sure about, but when I stated few years ago it was £19000 plus £1.50 per hour flight pay. Flybe is definitely not one of the big payers in the UK if loadsa money is what you are looking for.
Night stops are random, depending on what base. Some bases hardly ever, other bases 6-10 days per month. Again night stops are generally a good laugh though. You may also have to cover other bases due sickness or shortages. I have worked out of every base at one point in time.
Hours per month is another lottery. I have prob averaged in the last couple of years 50-60 hours per month. However I hear many people reaching the 90 hour mark on a regular basis.
Not so sure about leave allowance. I think maybe around 30 days plus a couple more depending how long you have served with Flybe. Staff travel excellent. Loads of carriers to choose from due to our interline agreements eg. BA, Virgin, Emirates, Air France just to name a few.
Hope this helps. Absolutely no harm in at least applying.
Good luck, I hope you enjoy it has much as I have.

This is straying off the original post but I have heard off the grapevine that Easyjet is in discussion with Flybe with regards to a take-over (Easyjet taking over Flybe). Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

badattitude781, its just another potential suitor to add to the list to let the shareholder trust exit this dismal failure before even more funds are chucked down the plughole. Before I heard it was Mearsk, Air France, BMI, BA, Luft,...................

Mearsk (think you'll find it's Maersk), eh??
Last I heard they weren't in the most financially sound of positions... but good to hear that they're on their way back now.
From a user name like yours ,12-o-clock high, I suspect you live your life with your head in the clouds.
Get a life.
Back to the original topic though and I agree with 2 of my colleagues... it has it's ups and downs, but I'm happy. Horses for courses and all that.
