Benefits of Maltese AOC

Mods, please move it there is. more appropriate forum.

Wondering what the benefits to European airines are in obtaining a Maltese AOC, as it is EASA member country and supposedly the same rule book.
Cheaper? Friendlier oversight? Easier to s***w staff over on reasonable contracts in the home country?

About 55 current AOCs in Malta now and it appears to be the place “de jour” to get one. Why?

£€$. Many other factors but cash is the main reason. Employment contracts are not tied up to AOCs.

Almost no bureaucracy and the phones and desks are not run by ex (and disgruntled) librarians.

Don't forget they'll approve whatever bs you write in your OMA with no questions whatsoever.

The employment law, really. For several years prior, the large customers of ACMI airliners started demanding legal compliance instead of the typical B2B rot.

It's the place of least inconvenience.
