Working part-time in the U.K.

Which airlines in the U.K. currently offer the opportunity to work part-time? For those working part-time, have you been able to negotiate how much you work or were there fixed percentages to choose from? Getting to a stage in life where I think working part-time may be the best way forward.

Ryanair.... certainly for Cpts. Don't know about FO positions. From the part-time CPTs I've flown with, seems like a fairly non-negotiable split, with a small amount of full time over the summer busy period.

DHK used to, not sure what the policy is now. Pre civid they had a wide range of options 50, 60, 75, 80, 84, 93% etc.

BA offers a few different part time contracts. But recently the only ones available seem to be under the "right to request" rules.
Options include
87.5% (7wks on 1wk off)
75% (3wks on 1 wk off)
50% (2wks on 2 wks off)

Weeks always run Thurs-Weds.

DHK still does. I’ve worked 11,10,9,8,9,10 twelfths since 2009.

I’m not sure I’d recommend changing airlines purely to chase PT - it may not be immediately available and policy can change because of business needs.

You may be able to request unpaid leave and with children are entitled to parental leave.

Many thanks for all the replies and information. Looking to move back to the U.K. so will be changing airlines anyway. Working part-time is one of my priorities for the future so I want to work for an airline where it will be an option.

Do BA Euroflyer offer the same part time contracts as BA mainline?

4/4 isn't currently a contract option in the UK.
Doesn't mean you couldn't request it through flexible working, but it's not currently a UK contract and no guarantees it could be accommodated
