One has to be beyond desperate to fall for this offer. It might be tempting for some, but for most it will be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If they only advertise with bases where hardly anyone is interested in and some vague promises or possibilities for following years and you know things hardly ever get any better in a company, you know what you can expect, right? Nothing and less. It wont get any better than what they offer now. Especially with currently less profit and profit warnings. Large amount of pilots are not leaving for nothing or just because they can get a better job. Some even take a less paid job to get out!
The dark side might be tempting for some, so may the force be with you if you decide to go for this one!

Ask yourself the question, Why are they looking for DE F/O? From What I hear The answer is: The ones that have 1500 CS 25 can't wait to get out the door to carriers that will give them proper career prospects. There are none in FR land, No seniority, No guaranteed basing, No stable hours, No life etc.

It does happen that a company recruits a DEC with no previous command time, but it's rare and usually in desperation. I am pretty sure it'd never happen at RYR, though - they dislike DEC enough as it is, without that complication.

Also given their propensity for low-experienced FO's I would be surprised if crewing a DEC with no previous relevant PIC experience would not be a serious issue.

It'll never happen. They've always pushed for 737 time for DECs, however failing that considerable multi crew PIC jet time was a requirement. Due to the nature of their operation and the training department's reluctance towards DEC OCCs (down to enlightening past experiences) it wouldn't be entertained. They have a large need at the moment however I don't see that being part of it. You'd join in the right seat and if you stuck it out for a year, maybe more, you'd be in the left seat. I'm sure you'd have no problem in keeping your Italian, Polish, Greek or Moroccan base as well!

Whilst I see many of you are eager to know the conditions of the DEFO contract.when you do upgrade you'll be on a shocking capt contract earning less than the cadets in the summer months.
Unless, of course, they are forced to improve it.

I am told, by a colleague who recently decided to forego the "opportunity" to instead sell his skills in pastures new, that a very good friend of his, having done the maths, expects €4200 net . . total (!) as a new Capt on a Ryanair contract . . . . . . quite a bit less than he currently earns as a Brookfield FO, and with the "joy" of a new base gawd knows where to look forward to.
I can't imagine new entry DEC's being offered much more than incumbent peeps ? . . . but I may be wrong.

Whilst the subject of new upgrade contracts/base relocation is a contentious one, I can't see where your colleague's friend is getting their figures from? From the number quoted, the only thing that I can correlate this to is basic monthly salary, and it falls quite a few €100 sort. And this is year 1 at 90%
Added to this is allowance, holiday pay and flight pay. There is a lot of sh1t being stirred about at the minute regarding these contracts however I am yet to meet a skipper netting the number quoted. I'm not defending Ryanair here, they really need to start playing ball however there are a lot of FOs quoting figures that are just simply ridiculous.

I am always weary about people trying to get a Captain position in an airline, with having only FO time on another type.
The salary does not really matter here.
And the zillion hours single pilot piston are not relevant either.

When comparing contractor salaries their seem to be some confusion between how much you earn & how much you invoice Brookfield/Storm. Depending on tax regulations and social security regulations you may net out close to all of what your company invoices these agencies. But the reality for others is that you may net out less than 50 % of the invoiced amount. I think there is yet an FO to make more than a Capt. over a year, but the point is you have to be careful taking the hourly pay rate at face value.

After all the negative publicity over all these years who in their RIGHT MIND would want to join Ryanair?!
I don't remember reading anything positive and know (from personal contacts) a lot of negatives.
But I suppose there will always be those who either wear rose-tinted spectacles or think it'll be different for them.
In the interests of fair play - would someone please write something POSITIVE about the airline and its management?!
The only positive I have been given is that if you accept Ryanair for what it is and join with your eyes open, then you wont be disappointed. Those who expect legacy airline lifestyle - forget it.
Thousands of pilots fly for the airline, so they can't all be wrong - can they?
