Oman Air
They have a high turnover for expat pilots.
Oman Air do not really cater for expat pilots, they need you but don't want you.
Most expats leave once their 2 year contract is up. Also Muscat is a very expensive city, especially if you have kids. Dubai and Abu Dhabi and their respective airlines are better places for pilots with families.
If you are single, give it a go. If you have family and fancy the Middle East Etihad seem to be the best fit right now.
If you are single you have more flexibility and can jump on a plane on days off and head over to Europe, Thailand or other places. Overall I would say Omanair is good for single pilots, bad if you intend to take your family.
Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways all cater very well for the expat pilots. Mostly because they have expats running the airline. In Oman you will have locals running the show and their focus is employing as many Omanis as possible, so as an expat you become a 2nd class citizen.
I would only recommend going to the Middle East is the package you're offered is 3 times what you are making back home or in current employment. The way the market is going right now the Far East is becoming more attractive for pilots as it is cheaper to live there and the package they offer gives more value to the pilot and his/her family.

Oman Air recruitment and conditions
Just back from IST where I passed successfully the assessment as capt 737:
- be prepared for a 20 theoretical written exam (easy).
- about 10-15 minutes personal interview with the chief pilot or fleet manager
- 1 hour in the sim: engines running, hold short rwy 26, T/O raw data and visual raw data with full stop. Then: vis 550 mtrs, wind 300/20, normal T/O with Engine failure at V1. Radar vectors, ILS single eng and when established expect to continue raw data.. GA at min then vectors to join holding MCT, then LOC 26 full to full stop. Easy and relaxed atm.
Now coming to the point with Meccti: they pay hotel accomodations for 2 nights in IST and transportation to sim building. Air ticket to IST and back reimbursed after joining Oman Air if you accept their ridicolous request: 4000 USD to be paid to Meccti for their cost and fees (???) after receiving the 2nd salary and if you don't pay the company will keep the money from your salary and pay it to Meccti... I've heard of a danish guy, that want to be smart, that didn't pay and left; that's why, now, if you don't pay Meccti, Oman Air will deduct from your second salary 4000 USD and you might get hard time.. Meccti is making a lot of money with us and I never heard in any other company worlwide this kind of business.. anyway they are very well connected with the management, Omani and Indians... so I let you to imagine what a great people you will deal with.
On top of it if you pass the assessment you will have to accept a training bond of 8000 Rials (around 21000 USD) even if you have thousand hours as 737NG PIC.
Obviously Meccti is not telling you straightforward the terms and conditions.. they are from East Europe (Czech, Slovakia and Georgia) and as far as I understood they think pilots are a bunch of assholes... obviously they are right if you accept their ridicolous offer. SCAM.
Roster is monthly, with block of 3 days (very usefull for commuting to Europe !!!! ) IF you request it 3 months in advance. Vacation has been reduced to 36 + 10 bank holidays (previously was 46+10) and will be very hard to get it even in block of 23 each because they are very short of captains. At the moment they offer 8 days off per month with the plan to reduce to 7 and increase the flight hours from 68 to 77 per month after the summer. GREAT.
Training is 3 months, 6 sim (Dubai) and 6 sectors to be released... quite high rate of fired guys during sim and line training or even the release flight... as a foreigner, as usual in SOME parts of ME, you are nobody and you don't deserve anything.
Upgrade to 330: just a dream... only for locals.
Are you still thinking to apply?... via Meccti?
NO WAY, at least for myself.

The bottom feeder Meccti has been around for years. He was pulling this crap from Dubai for Oman Air 3 years ago.
Get the word out on this miscreant... That's what the aviation world needs to do!
He belongs stocked in a pillory along with the likes of Eagle and Falcon Aviation!
Oman Air should also be boycotted for condoning such disgusting conduct!
