Are newbies at Jet2 trained initially on the 737-300 only? Or do some get trained on the 800 or both? Also, how often are 757 slots offered?

Not sure about the 757 situation but as non type-rated you would normally go to the classic first and then do an 800 conversion in the fullness of time. Still plenty of the older airframes in the Company. Some would say that's the way to do it or is that just a Punch and Judy line?

Nope, depends on where you're based. For example anyone who's current on the 800 and starting this year in GLA goes straight on the 800.
