Haha, got a pleading type email from Riskworth (registered there 4 years ago) asking if I was interested, I just forwarded them a PDF of my August payslip so far, no reply.

Conditions and salary discussions aside, surely this bank guarantee is no different from a bond you would get from any airline you joined where the airline had payed for your type rating.
However it doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence that Norwegian want evidence that you have the money to pay black should you leave.
Seems to me they are expecting people to not see the three years out!

Payslip ?

So besides apparently receiving a pleading email from Risworth and politely sending them your payslip........

Does that mean they shared the full terms of contract or ??

How tremendously mature of you MM , thus alienating one if the largest pilot agencies in the world .

Let's hope you are never made redundant and need their services.

Personally I'd be interested as the 787 should future proof my career, it's not all about your P60.

Just had a look at Thai tax rates on the internet and you only pay if you in the country over 180 days per year and on this sort of job you wouldn't be. The other factor for non residents seemed to be if your income originated in Thailand and it will not so perhaps you will be able to get away without paying tax in Thailand. I am no expert on this though so maybe I have it wrong.

Don't you guys have any sort of scope clause in your contracts? I can't believe the Norwegian pilots are letting management outsource their long haul flying. The place should be shutdown by the pilots. Let management choke on their herrings.

You really think Rishworth would ban a pilot because he would not work for crap wages? You don't know contractors. They will put forth any warm body that will take their contracts. They will forget about you anyway, as soon as you are in place.

Thanks Fade, how tremendously ignorant of you, Riskworth have a well deserved poor reputation, they are in my opinion the worst of a bad bunch.
I HAVE used their services, and never again will I subject myself to the deceit that masquerades itself as a contracting agency.
Good luck with the contract, enjoy Thailand, Goodluck with being paid when the principle decides to move the goalposts and the agency leave you swinging.

Ah, well, you didn't make it clear this had nothing to do with Norwegian , just needed the opportunity to take a swipe at Rishworth huh ?

I won't comment on that as I've seen agencies both good and bad .

GYPSY.....Tax issue is more complicated than that and all depends on which EU country you come from and from where/which country the contract is paid from. Thailand has in general tax agreement with EU and the tax in Thailand is 37% for that income the contract offers. And sometimes if the pilot have the nerves not to declare the income and getting away with it ...tax is zero....or facing a huge tax penalty later if found out.....

MONARCH MAN.....The perfect (Airline or Contract) company does not exist and you may have had a poor experience with Risworth or other contract companies....and others may have good experience with same companies ....assuming you are currently in the "Desert" then just look at other PPrune forums where those Airlines are discussed where some are happy ....and some not ....just take the DEC in EK which have caused some pilots to raise their opinions against it....

CACTUSBUSDRYR.....World is changing and you just have to accept it .....but it will not keep pilots away from applying for the position with Risworth....whether the contract is poor or not regarding the terms has to be seen with the "big picture" depending what cost you have being based in BKK and opportunity to commute and layovers in Scandinavia where pilots are likely to come from (or EU pilots) and other factors......and BKK is not the worst place to be based :-) ....and cheap living.....

They do have such a scope clause, however management didn't feel like honoring the agreement.

However, it may be the case that Norwegian Management read it different !

It is not unusual in these times Airlines management change agreements in order to cut cost like many other other non-airline companies .....it is unfortunate but something we have to live with and evaluate .....and decide what to do....

End of the day it is still the matter of being able to pay the bills and not to be out of a job in this business as everyone know it is easier to get a job when you have one .....and not to get rusty and paying for your LPC when unemployed.

Doesn't everybody know by now that for pilots, contracts aren't worth the paper they're printed on?

Not true, however, for companies. They'll pursue you big time for violating contracts from their point of view.

What is typical/standard crewing number per longhaul aircraft?

Is this crewing number larger than normal on a per-longhaul aircraft basis? Not too familiar with crewing figures. I guess if they are paying the pilots so little to fly the 787s they can hire more pilots....

Norwegian Air Shuttle will configure its Boeing 787 aircraft with 291 seats, with 259 in the economy-class cabin and 32 in premium-class.

The low-cost carrier plans to take delivery of its first Dreamliner in April next year as it launches long-haul services from late May to New York and Bangkok from Oslo and Stockholm.

All-leather Timco-supplied seats will be fitted throughout the aircraft. The economy-class seats will have a pitch of 31in (79cm) and those in the premium-class cabin will have a pitch of 46in.

Norwegian is recruiting staff from Bangkok to serve both new destinations and says the "hiring process is well underway".

It plans to have a total of 23 pilots and 70 cabin crew for each 787, says Norwegian, with training for flight crew already under way.

As part of the carrier's livery it displays images of famous Scandinavians on the vertical stabilizer of each aircraft. It says that figure skater and film star Sonja Henje will appear on its first Dreamliner.

Hi

Just picking up this thread..Been googleing around without great results.

Anyone have more news about job, term etc?
Also what the term relief captain would mean at Norweigan. Is it cruise captain = No take off/landings and no PIC time?

As " relief Captain" this position is only RHS no flying from LHS and according to NAS is P2 time only. Some experienced 737/ 767 guys passed interviews and sim and have had start date delayed due the tech problems with the 787. They were told without the 777 rating and time on 777, LHS would be " quick" maybe 2/3 years, which for a wide body is quick. One guy has 5000 hrs 767 but he still has to wait " at least" 1 year for LHS. It's basically the same as " relief command" at CX, i.e an FO job with approval for monitoring at cruise stage.
The Type rating is done in the RHS by the way.better off on 737 at NAS if you are thinking of money and command time

That doesn't make any sense.
Relief captain should be qualified to fly LHS in the cruise, with an FO.

Otherwise if you can only fly RHS, only log P2, that's not a relief captain that's less than an FO gets. At least they log P1/s ??

I'm sorry , I'm not certain I believe you.
The criteria for a command job was 500 hrs P1 on Boeing wide body , as widely documented by both companies.So your contact with 5000 on B767 would be fine.

Yep! the situation is muddy enough, it's not until after the application and screening that the guys were told this, of course, there may be other reasons, recency on wide types etc..a quick call to Andrew at Rishworth or email will clear things up for you if you are considering the position.

I am a bit shocked with the reactions here...I want to know where you guys work! 6000€ is still more than double of what I earn every month, flying an extensive European network, with lots of nightstops, charters etc. (it's not a LCC!) And it's not like I'm home a lot. If I'll earn over 6000€ I'd go! But that P2F rubbish doesn't make me happy at all. It's frustratingly hard finding another job without a B/A rating. That's the real problem these days, companies don't want to invest in experience anymore.
