THY NOT RENEWING A340 CONTRACTS

THY is not renewing ending contracts of expats, on A340 .....
A note is being released to crews, in order to program their professional future, as their job with the company, will end, ending their contract.

Well I left my regular contract job to be with THY on the promise of a 3 year contract after the first year. The interviewers were heavy on me looking at this job as a long term proposition. Laughable!

I have done my part and been a "good boy" and they do this. THY has put a lot of pilots in a very undesirable position.

Now who's going to buy my furniture hmmm

I am , frankly, amazed that any of you believed them or trusted what was said.
Anyone with even a tiny percentage of the healthy cynicism I hold about this lot, could envisage that they would merely say what was convenient to attract people in, thereby providing a stop-gap solution for a period that suited THEM, & then drop em like a hot potato when it suited THEM.

Did y'all REALLY believe them

Just heard from a contact in THY that they also did not renew at least two 330 contracts. It seems that they have employed too many pilots so they are not renewing contracts on an as not needed basis.
My contact left a good job on the promise of at least 4 years work - 1 year and then 3 years. He was told at interview that foreign pilots would be needed for many years to come. Now it seems that the communication is nil until an email advises the pilot of the non renewal.
Why does this not surprise anyone??

The last time I heard such a sincere promise and commitment was in a bar in Patpong - Best wishes and quick employment to all who are affected.

Empty promises

It was a bunch of liars and it will be stay that way. I hope they are marked until the end of the days if they would ever dare to ask for ExPats again.

The only people they would get in the future would be the left over takers.

I wish all affected a quick employment again. I know two former Colleagues who left a long term comittment for that outfit. What a shame. Some of the Guy´s got a second year instead of a three year extension. A clear broken promisse again, not new, just repeated. What else to say. Turks.....

Yes, Tommy, and we are the hookers! Better stay with "cash and carry"; if you are not paid, you can call it rape.

Only young girls and naive pilots believe Turks and Indians

Perhaps this explains it. Below is an excerpt from wikipedia about Thai.

Airbus A340-500 (3 AC) To be phased out between 2012 and 2013

ATP, if the thread was about Thai, and not Turkish as is the case, there could have been something to your theory.

I think Patpong caught your eye.

I have a hard time reading some of this with out laughing. If it isn't in the contract it isn't going to happen and even then.

The 340s are leaving. One is already painted 'all white' so why should they keep contract pilots ? Every agency would do the same.

I think it's not right to blame them for that although they could use them on the 330s but that's an entirely different story.

I don't think the issue at THY is the non renewal of contracts but the fact that THY management and particularly Flight Ops will not be honest with pilots. They don't answer emails - they avoid answering direct questions - and it seems that they will tell lies if required.
My understanding from those to whom I have spoken is that the THY culture is one of ignore it and it will go away - like the no smoking rules, the checklist and perhaps the same applies to ATC instructions and SOPs.
I have now met three THY expat pilots, one of which does not work there any more, and the other two are actively seeking other jobs, but they all believe that a huge culture change is required and that this will not happen under the present management.
