Thanks, I did not know that.

But then, another silly question: are there Spanish nationals that don't speak Spanish? Because this clause about a level 4 "only for non-Spanish nationals" would mean, either you can learn Spanish or you can also just get a Spanish passport.
Who cares? Do you want to pay for a type rating for a 6 month contract with a crap monthly basic salary of 700€? Unstable roster minimum rest and maximum duty. They'll kick you out anyway after 6 months, in order for them to recruit new cadets that will pay for a type rating.

Are you sure about that? How do you know they'll kick you out after 6 months? It seems Vueling is growing and as far as I heard they ordered new airplanes so I think they really need additional crew for the future.

One of my colleagues told me the deal offered today, and you would need an arse lined with titanium to put up with that!
Still some spaniards are used to a bull horn up the rear

Can anyone confirm (with some accuracy ) take-home payment (total) for Capt after taxes, I had heard as little as €4500.

Not interested to join, just interested to know the figures my current employer may be using one day as a benchmark

Because 50 guys from the recruitment of last year are just kicked out and will be replaced by new cadets this year. It's a really nice cash factory.

There are ? ? ? any number of FO's on the market with 500 or a few more hrs on A320/737.

Sad to say, the only job you are likely to find is possibly worse than the one you have been dumped from, as you are no longer even classified as a "revenue source", you are now merely a "financial/regulatory inconvenience".
Think they see you as "Tommorows Captain" ? grow up & open your eyes.
As long as people continue to pay for not only TR , but even LTng, this situation will never get better.

If only people could act a little bit in unison & use the supposed "intelligence" required to obtain an ATPL & come to the conclusion to tell those sh1tty companies to "take a hike", this situation could be solved.

Everyone is keen to slag off Ryanair ( & indeed not without reason ) but (for the moment at least ) if you pay the TR there you DO have an ongoing contract, it may not be the best (still better than the cr@p Vueling pay ) , but at least it is ongoing.

Dumping people after one year is just as much a reflection on how gullible the candidates are, as to how cynical the airline is. . .sorry, but that is a fact.

Current processing times for becoming a nationalized Spanish citizen is a 6 year process, I know this from first hand experience. When you reach the end of the process, there is now an exam to see how well you have integrated into Spanish society which includes being able to speak Spanish.

It is possible that there are some Spanish passport holders out there who don't speak Spanish, forexample if you get Spanish citizenship through heritage rights and you don't speak Spanish, but you might end up looking quite foolish in an interview as they conduct them mostly in Spanish at Vueling.

Basically, Vueling are trying to hire mostly Spaniards by requiring the language requirement.

As far as the six month contract goes, Vueling has been doing that with their cabin crew for quite a long time, hence why they never stop hiring cabin crew. A senior flight attendant at Vueling explained it to me like this: "Vueling is like a bus, but the bus never gets full because the backdoor is always open."

Captplaystation

Very easy to take such a view if one already has a decent job (which I presume you do?)

A very different kettle of fish to take such a principled view when one is looking for one's first job in the industry, wouldn't you agree?

It is not a case of being principled, it is the fact that I am astonished that year after year / course after course , people walk into this not with their eyes open , but with them firmly closed.

If you see, for successive years, FO's being dumped on the market with circa 500 hrs on type & virtually no chance to get further employment, why not find another method, or another company to donate your money to ? crass stupidity is not making mistakes, it is failing to learn from the mistakes of others that are staring you in the face.
