VJW, sorry to be a pain in the @ss, but are you sure ? I.E. did you ask them ? or just assuming from the description in the Ad.
Don't know if I would call Norwegian a "well established flag carrier" (think that is SAS ? ) & PARC (who have now dropped the Ad from their website, WTF ? ) ask 5000TT/2000P1C , Rishworth 5000TT/1000PIC on type, yet Direct ask 5000/500PIC on type, yep, they all ask 5000, but strange they set the PIC bar at different levels, or these cunning Vikings just want to fool us ? Strange too the Norwegians accepting a FAA licence ?
Anyhow, question remains, did you ask ? or just surmising ?

Thanks

Hi

I wrote to PARC aviation last week about it and that's what they said. Unfortunately I deleted their reply, but I'll ask for it again. I'm an FO, so didn't take much notice of the DEC requirement.

They were pretty quick at answering before. PM me your email, and I'll forward it to you when I get it.

VJW,

I know about the PARC one, that is, as you say, Norwegian in Malaga.

The one I originally posted the Q about was the Direct Personnel Ad on flightglobal.com

Agency won't give details until you apply, & I am not eligible as I spent the last two years flying Classic & they insist you must have flown NG within last 6 mths (never mind I flew it from 2002-2009 )
So still waiting the answer out of curiosity,if anyone applies & wishes to share, but with (obviously) less interest.

We must be the only industry where one must apply for a job without knowing anything about it . Madness . If it is a desirable job , good location , T&Cs etc , then say so - I would love to do a summer contract in Malaga .

I believe it is for Ethiopian - established flag carrier, Africa.
Yet another agency may have been engaged to cover the impending mass exodus due to the airline failing to honor the terms and conditions for pilots currently in place (ref another thread). The agency will not divulge the T&C's probably because they are being amended and do not want to promise anything their client airline cannot deliver - as already proven.
If anyone does travel down to Addis for screening and it happens to be on a gleaming, brand new 777, be sure to remember the cost of such a fleet renewal when you see some of the locals dying of starvation near your hotel.

You may be right. . .however, the hours/currency requirement do not match what was asked for by other agencies advertising this position. Also, they said the position did not offer a commuting contract, I believe Ethiopian do.

As I said, more curiosity now than anything else, since having all marks of 737 (except the 100/200) current on my licence is not enough. They said the client requested this due to not wanting to give any more sim time than the strict minimum, heartening to see the high standards being set by " well established flag carriers"

Not current on Type excuse

I heared that BS before in the second half of the Ninetees.... The B737 EFIS was the miracle plane and if you have not had seen one of those before you where "unable" to bring that Bird into the Sky....

Same I read now here again: Have not flown the "NG" within the last 6 Months but have flown a B37 EFIS and that does not count towards to currency.

Why does the JAR License show the B737-300/900 as one Type Rating? Why are we able to renew the Typerating for the B737NG in a B737EFIS SIM? What head games is played there? Or.... worse: What ignorant people are behind that Job Offer - Operation?

Especially in cases where people have flown the NG previously for the last 8 Years but not within the last 6 Months? Maybe the leading people within that operation are refering to themselves and see Pilots purely incapable of doing the job?. In that case I would be glad not to be current.

Got an email back today; this 'gig' is something in the Carribean. Don't know who/what/where. So for one the location is probably better than Addis/Nairobi/Delhi... good luck for those who meet the reqs

This one I can help with CaptPlaystation. Itīs Caribbean Airlines. I got the F/O details from them. Fixed pay $4000/month based on 80 hours of flying. 1 day vacation/month worked, insurances and stuff seem to be taken care of, but bring your own uniform...
