Are you getting to fly overtime each month? I am looking forward to maxing out at 1000/year to finish building my retirement account. Is this possible and practical with Jet?
i have friends in jet (locals), they will use you for the 1000 hours. she has done a month flying 123 hours.

I am 55 and want to finish my next 10 years with only one carrier and wonder if Jet Airways is the right one.
am not sure this will be possible because as per current rules of DGCA all expats have to be phased out by 2013 or so. its true this date has been advanced a few times, however you would be running on fumes if you hope it gets extended all the way till 2021.

I don’t have to tell anyone here that life as an expat is a crap shoot to say the least. Will the DGCA extend the deadline beyond 2013??? Can one live in China for an extended period of time? Most important… passing the medicals… be they FAA, CAAC, JAR, or now the Indian. There are a lot of variables as to which direction one should take.

For those in their golden years and not ready to hang up the goggles, Jet Airways has one of the better contracts out there. Base pay net of taxes… hotel accommodations taken care of or a living allowance provided if one wants to live in a hotel. Reliable transport to and from major airports that Jet Airways serves, and in business class most of the times too. Pretty much guaranteed to break 80 hours a month.

Remember, whether you go to china or to India, four medicals a year will be required. Both are pretty comprehensive too, but no insurmountable. There will be a great support system amongst expats no matter where you choose to go. They will help you with issues ranging from mobile phones to where’s the best place to shop. That said, you won’t be alone or isolated.

I think this rule will be extended again & Expats will be stay for as long as there is a need for it. The airlines will always get their way with DGCA in India.

Plus the retirements are not going to hit USA & Europe alone, there are Indians Captains also who will be retiring soon & there are a LOT of them.....

Right now the airlines in India are way behind the curve, they can't even train enough Captains to staff their current operation, how will they staff the expansion & growth...

But again, no guarantees.....

I would say come to India with an open mind & be flexible, Learn to bargain & don't feel ashamed to haggle & you will do just fine.

While you are here, enjoy & save, who cares if you will have to go to a different country after 3 yrs, you will get to see a new country......

Just my 2 cents, FWIW....
